I thought Alan Colmes was leaving at the end of the year. Is today his last day? No one on the show seems to be talking about it.

I am surprised that the Bold Fresh review review at NB didn't touch on John Dolan's assertion that BOR stood by and watched women and children get murdered by US soldiers.
"If O'Reilly really went to El Mozote after the massacre, he saw not an "alleged" abuse but raw "evil," if that term has any meaning at all. ... Of those killed at El Mozote by American proxies, the vast majority were women and children."
John Dolan goes on to suggest that BOR was fine with it because the El Salvadoran army was trained by the US.
I missed the part where BOR says he was embedded with the El Salvadoran army...embellish much, Mr. Dolan?

I meant to say US trained soldiers in my first sentence.

I was watching my DVR of last night's "Red Eye," which featured the best moments of the year on the show. Among them was something about Anna Gilligan. I forgot what it was because of the disheartening revelation that she is dating Steve Gutenberg!!! She's 27, he's 50! If there's one thing I dislike more than anything, it's much older man-much younger woman age disparate relationships. I'm talking about a gap of more than seven or eight years. The wider the gap, the worse it is, especially if the woman is around my age.

And to further inflame my frustration, the latest Gaza conflict pre-empted a few minutes of the show, because breaking news couldn't wait until 4AM. It had to occur between 2:59:57 and 4:00:03.

I don't see why much older man much younger woman relationships would bother you so much. It's usually a perfect tradeoff- young woman with hot bod and older man with fat wallet. Toss in a little blue pill and everybody wins!

You know who else made the Best of 2008? Amanda Not-Carpenter-Anymore! That made for an automatic stop and erase. Happy New Year. In 2009, I will not watch "Red Eye" if the following people are on: Amanda, Anna, her sugar daddy actor beau, Diana Falzone (she's too attractive), and Nick Gillespie (from the Ron Paul wing of libertarians).

It's only with women that are my age or younger, or just a few years over. In some cases, I don't care about the disparity; BOR and Geraldo's wives, for example.

This shouldn't bother me, but it does. The most unusual things bother me. It comes with the territory of having Asperger Syndrome.

It's not always a matter of younger women being attracted to older men because they are rich, gentlemen. Mature men have some terrific qualities other that have nothing to do with money.
My father had gone through WWII and law school when he married my mother. He was hardly a "rich"' guy.
The only drawback to that situation is that I do remember as a child, wondering why my fatther was older than my friend's daddies. I worried that this meant he might die soon!
However, his maturity came in handy when my young mother died after the birth of my brother (I was two). His equanimity and stability was the salvation of his kids.
I'm all for mature men!

I was just looking at cables numbers for the year. Funny, I seem to remember some comments predicting the demise of Fox News. I wonder how News Hounds will spin this?

I don't care about the rich factor. I'm just focusing on the age part. And I don't care when it's older women-younger men. Yes, it's a double-standard. I don't care.

Just as excessively cold weather is proof of global warming, FNC having it's "Best Year Ever" is proof of its pending doom.

Flocus on the age angle is irrelevant, it's all about the feelings two people have for each other. Mike C. you need to worry less about other folks choices and pay attention to your own without the judgemental stuff. Are you a member of the self appointed age police? Happy New Year and get back to cable news issues!

I'll be watching "UParty 2009" tonight. I used to be a "New Year's Rockin' Eve" guy, but not since 2005.

In the spirit of May-Dec romance, I read something online one time that I have found again and I'm sending out to Mike:
-----------------------------------------
I ended up with an older woman at a club last night.
She looked pretty good for a 60-year-old.
In fact, she wasn't too bad at all and I found myself thinking that she probably had a really hot daughter.
We drank a bit (well, more than a bit), we had a snuggle, and she asked me if I had ever had a "sportsman's double".
"What's that?", I asked. "It's a mother and daughter threesome", she said. "Oh", I said as my mind began to embrace the idea. "No, I haven't." I wondered what this daughter of her's might look like.
We drank a bit more and then she winked and said that tonight was my "lucky night".
We went back to her place. We walked in. She put on the hall light and shouted up the stairs,
"Mom, are you still awake?"

I've never had a sportsman's double, but I saw one on TV once!
I'm right there with Cece on the older dad. My father was my mother's college professor (that's where they met) and later an artist. Not rich, but a prefect couple.
David has the idea Mike, you need to focus on getting yourself a cougar and age differences will cease to matter either way. You might even get a sportsman's double!
Oh, and Cece, thanks for rescinding your happy new years to me! lol
Happy New Years all!

One more thing- Ron Paul was the only republican who ran for president in '08 and the only person running for president who could possibly fix the economy.

I think David was just telling me to knock it off, that people have an absolute right to be with whomever they want no matter what their age is, and that I'd damn well better like it and deal with it. I'm exaggerating, but that's what it always feels like when I get scolded.
The mother/daughter thing occurred on "Nip/Tuck." I know because a clip (or at least a still of the episode) was shown on "The Soup." This was two years ago when I actually watched the show before he low blowed "F&F" and FNC on January 12, 2007. Yeah, I remember that. It was the last time I regularly watched. I didn't even finish the episode. Anyway, the "sportsman's double" sounds incestual and disgusting.
Happy New Year. May I finally be happily gainfully employed in broadcasting in 2009.

I remember watching the first New Years Rockin Eve back around 1973. Helen Reddy was one of the big acts. Times have changed.
Mike, if I was your age right now, knowing what I know now, I would focus 100% on catching a cougar (or having that cougar catch me).
Cecelia - I'm still laughing over "Mom, are you awake?". Thanks for the great joke.
Just got back, loaded the family in the van and took a drive over to Pasadena to check out the crowds on Colorado Blvd. Thousands of people, all having fun, and squirting cars with silly string and pelting them with marshmallows. Very fun. Now on to FNC for the NY ball drop.
Everyone, including our esteemed and famous moderator, have a happy new year.

Outside of a clip here and there, FF, me, either. And I'd like to keep it that way. To amend what I said about the sportsman's double, it's enticing, but nonetheless incestual and disgusting...to me.

And speaking of Joel, he made "UParty 2009" via a montage of celebrities wishing FNC a Happy New Year or Holiday or whatever. With an air of sarcasm, "Happy Holidays, Fox News, from Joel McHale of 'The Soup.' Thank you...for the endless number of clips...that you've given to us...and will continue to give. We look forward to it. Thanks, Rupert." Hemmer: "Cool, Joel. You're welcome for that, too." Kelly: "We've given them a few more tonight." Hemmer: "Right. And in 2009, who knows how many more?"
