Well, it's hard to tell since it's a he-said, he-said deal and we didn't have our phone taps in place yet so we don't know how truthful these people are being about their phone calls.
I will say this: Kurtz was man enough to point out that it was an Olbermann Lie that helped imflame this whole thing: his totally made-up claim that Ailes was Giuliani's chief Presidential campaign strategist. And I take a little pride in noting that at OlbyWatch I called Oralmann out for this lie just minutes after he said it.
TVN has done a little post on this, though he fails to mention Olbermann lying about Ailes. That could be because he wanted to keep his article short I suppose.

I'm up to the part where Kurtz says BOR is obsessed with Keith. That is the exact opposite of what's really going on. Also, there's the dismissive line "O'Reilly is cheered by conservatives." Yeah, and independents, the center left, and anyone else I can't think of. Kurtz actually pointed out that BOR doesn't mention Keith by name.
And that's it. I've finished reading. Why did I waste my time with that?

Well,running against the media has been a regular staple for "conservatives" for a very long time.Witness the meme that the "MSM" wasn't reporting the good news out of Iraq. For that matter,where did the figure of speech MSM come from?How about "the drive by media"?And "some people" say that 100% of the coverage on the MSM is anti-conservative.
Now there is no doubt that the whispering campaign saying Sen Obama is a Muslim has had some effect.Many people still believe this.I even met a middle aged black woman who heard it at church and believed it.
The internet and word of mouth have had their effect,but no doubt network coverage,at least temporarily,added a veneer of plausability to the story.When you can state in your chain E-mail "as reported on FoxNews",it helps to "propel the propoganda".
As for a network hiding behind "some people say' or "it's been reported by" as a cover for perpetuating a selective piece of falsehood,I'd say that's pretty damned irresponsible at best.
IMO,for a news network to repeat an unverified and inflammatory story such as the Muslim rumour,especially in these times of heightened tensions,was an intentional smear.Any other conclusion would be insulting the intelligence of the fox writers and producers.They had to know what they were doing.I think they are all "an effete corp of impudent snobs".

It's always unsettling for me whenever I see the nicknames "Billo," "Bill O," or "Bill O.," even when it comes from a pro-BOR person.
I thought of this earlier today: I don't think it's any coincidence that Kurtz came out with this story while BOR is on vacation. And since it's about Oralmann, he can't refute it because if he mentions the feud or Keith by name, he's playing into his, Brock's, and the Blue Blogs' hands.

His post sounded so sinister. "'NewsCorp to falsely attack' followed hours later by NewsCorp falsely attacking - it's a beautiful thing," followed by diabolical laughter. And you know the crowing will continue tonight, Wednesday night, and Thursday night. Tuesday is primary night and Friday will probably be a day off. I hate him so much. At the same time, I feel so powerless. I can't do a thing. He'll be on all things NBC Universal (he'll probably even pop up on WFLA-TV's Newschannel 8 newscasts, for example) from now till the end of time and there's not a damn thing I can't do about it.

As far as politics is concerned, I feel Bush and his group are a menace to the planet and have nothing to do with my Father's Republican party. You can voice any wishes you have concerning the News Hounds site on that site comment board or to the site owners/managers in private email.
After that it is up to the owners to agree with you or not and to manage their site as they see fit, even to the point of THEIR taking something up with Johnny privately.
Why not let them handle the matter as THEY wish and then you decide whether to stay at News Hounds or to go based upon their decision?
That would make far more sense than your coming over to another site to complain about trolls and such.
I realize that folks here discuss the decisions of how the News Hounds manage their site, but I think you'd be more effective (if your goal really is to help News Hounds) if you'd ignore the people who you believe to be trolls, when they voice their opinion on a DIFFERENT site, instead of running to THAT site to post and chide them.
I do understand that YOU do have the advantage here of posting on a board that is managed by a far more tolerant and open-minded person, and by your own admission have fared better here than you have fared at NH, certainly better than how folks from here fare over there...
However, though I certainly take no issue with your being here to voice your opinions about FNC, I do think the other matter is something that needs to be handled by the News Hounds managers and taken up on THAT site.

Whatever happened to those respectful interviews by the great journalists of the past. You know the kind. Dan Rather conducted an interview for the text books of how to show the proper respect and deference to the president of an important country when he interviewed Saddam Hussein in 2003.
I could almost feel the contempt and superior attitude that Engel radiated. He interrupted GWB several times in mid answer. I was glad to see that GWB , mostly by tone and expression, put him in his place.

Another day,and we have the Bush administration attacking MSNBC.Does anyone NOT see that this is just the same tactic,but this time used by the administration?It's a tried and true tactic,if the news is bad,attack the messenger.
The entire interview is available on MSNBC's web site.Most people will not watch the entire interview to see that Mr Bush's answers were not misdrepresented by MSNBC's editing.But some people will take the administrations word on this,and believe that MSNBC changed the meaning of Mr Bush's answers.
I understand that Keith had the edited version which MSNBC used,followed by the complete answer to the questions.I was busy,and though the TV was on,I only noted that the information was there.Can anyone say how the meaning or tone of Mr Bush's answers were materially changed by MSNBC's editing?
