'Every Day NBC Smears Me'

J$P Instant Transcript! Bill O'Reilly and The Radio Factor take on Michael Savage and (MS)NBC.

From The Radio Factor, February 10 2005:

BILL O'REILLY: There's this right-wing, kooky talk show host, who's ranting and raving about [Factor Gear]. And he knows that most of the money goes to charity, or a lot of the money--all my proceeds go to charity. And he ranted and raved. But here's how it is. You buy the Factor Gear on billoreilly.com, as Georgette did. It's made in the USA, so we employ hundreds of people to get this stuff out, OK? All of it's made in the USA. We could do it a lot cheaper overseas, but we take less of a profit--we, the Factor crew--because we keep it in here, OK? We make it here, employ all those people. Georgette gets neat stuff, good stuff, at a very reasonable price. She buys it, she loves it. The money that comes in to me goes right back out to the Foundation, the William and Winifred O'Reilly Foundation, charitable foundation, that then gets distrbuted to mostly children's charities, but others too, all over the world. So everybody wins. Everybody wins. Yet you get this kooky, right-wing guy---

LISE WIEHL: What's his beef?

O'REILLY: I don't know, he's in charge of some Nation or something? You don't even know who he is? I heard him the other day and he's screaming and yelling, "How much money does a guy need?" And I'm going to myself, this guy knows what the situation is, because this is not the first time I'm talking about it.

WIEHL: Right, right.

O'REILLY: I mean, we've been talking about this a long time. He knows. And he gets on, and so when people say to me oh well you big conservative O'Reilly, blah blah, I get as much heat from the far right as I get from the far left. It's just that the far left has control over the elite media, so their criticisms are heard much more widely than this guy who can't get any of his--

WIEHL: But he's in charge of a Nation, though.

O'REILLY: Yeah, he's got the Nation, but he doesn't have the press.

WIEHL: Oh, I see.

O'REILLY: So whatever he says, they ignore him. And that's the deal. But the point is, this is a good deal. We worked it out so everybody wins. And they get good stuff, people work, people get help with charity. And people still criticize it. They still demean it. You know, I'm getting a little fed up with it. But I've made--it's Lent--

WIEHL: Calm down--

O'REILLY: --and I'm going to be, I'm not--NBC has been smearing me on a daily basis for the last five months. Why? Because we're costing them tens of millions of dollars. CNBC almost off the air. MSNBC unbelievably low ratings. Why? Fox News Channel. So every day, day in and day out, NBC smears me. Well, nothing I can do about it. But you ought to know about it.

O'Reilly should have mentioned that Savage is now selling T-Shirts on his web site.

What a hypocrite!

Savage will soon get a rude awakening as he will not get any time on FNC (or anywhere else) to sell his upcoming book.

Savage intrigues me. He is kooky, but every once in a while kooky works for me. I solidly disagree with him with O'reilly though. Savage is entertaining and periodically enlightening. He should not join NBC in these uncalled for attacks. You are right though! He's going to have a hard time getting anbody to help sell his book. He doesn't think he needs anybody.
