Thanks for this. I hope Tony does it. He can do straight news or opinion. He can see both sides; and he can articulate either. Bush needs someone who won't get tongue tied when the press starts throwing arrows.

Oh I only hope Mr Snow accepts the press position in the Bush White House. Then he will not get away with setting up straw arguements. The press will eat him alive. Now thats something I could tune in for.

Mr Snow is perfectly well aware of the hammering that Scottie has been taking for not talking at the press briefings and does not find it an attractive prospect. Can you blame him? Is there really anything that a reporter can do in such a situation, on either side of the podium? It must be very frustrating. 
Although Mr Snow has some... antiquated ideas in some areas, there is no reason to believe that he is not in control of his faculties. He's a reporter, why would he volunteer to be a mute puppet caught in chaos?

you notice the quotes they give from "lefty blogs", with the exception of Media Matters, are only from the comments, not from actual blog posts?
