That was great! My favorite part was when Mason pointed out that Gibson had done 50 years of good, yet people want to erase it because of something he said in less than a minute. How true.

He's also right about the truth serum theory. Drunk people do stupid things. Picking fights, egging people on, calling people names. I've watched friends say the N word many a time. It doesn't make them a bigot. Anyone who's ever been drunk knows the alcohol makes them more aggressive; and it makes them say things they don't mean.

I have known people with alcohol problems who have done exactly what Mason said- talked badly about their entire family in a drunken rage WITH THEIR FAMILY PRESENT.
 
It's not a pretty sight, it hurts all parties involved. The drunken rager can apologize for a couple of incidents, but past that a permanent family fissure appears.
 
Mel too has hurt all parties involved, but good deeds in everyday life do make a difference and count against a single incidental drunken tirade.
