Missing in ActionJ$P Video! Are they in hiding?
From Fox News Channel, October 30 to November 2
2006:
There's a reason why FNC has a large stable of contributors from the left side of the aisle. They provide balance to make up for all the courageous candidates missing in action [QuickTime video]: Of the referenced candidates, one did eventually appear: Harold Ford. posted: Sun - November 5, 2006 at 07:19 PM j$p  send Fox Fan They're not MIA, they're just too scared to enter the world of fair and balanced. Other networks will coddle them while Fox might challenge them 50% of the time. They take the easy way out. Love the music! November 5, 2006, 9:08:58 PM EST – Like – Reply Bob Democrats know that they will lose any debate based on substance, which is why they avoid appearing on Fox News Channel at all costs. God help us if they win tomorrow. November 6, 2006, 6:47:40 PM EST – Like – Reply Johnthebaptist Pretty funny stuff, too bad that the 'news'hounds and the other liars out there will point to this as simply Fox denying equal access. hrmph. November 6, 2006, 7:24:42 PM EST – Like – Reply Tom Actually, there's a reason they didn't appear. Want to know what it is? Watch the Christopher Dodd interview with Neil Cavuto. It was basically Cavuto attacking Democratic voters for dumping Lieberman and not allowing Dodd to be given any question in which he could make a case for a Dem Senate. Whereas, Cavuto has brought on probabably 30 guests in the last three weeks to talk about why Dems shouldn't control Congress. In fact, he opened today with a segment stating that if the Dems took control inflation would increase in the United States. Sounds pretty desperate at this point. Good news for those of who do not live in a delusional Republican world and are naive enough to believe that a network running "IF DEMS WIN WILL AMERICA BE DESTROYED?" headlines all day long is "balanced". November 6, 2006, 9:03:25 PM EST – Like – Reply Johnthebaptist So Cavuto rules the Fox news and scares dems huh? Interesting theory. Quite silly, but interesting especially when there are plenty of times where there ARE democrats on. You really should watch more of Fox instead of basing your entire argument on one interview with Neil Cavuto. November 7, 2006, 1:06:50 AM EST – Like – Reply Tom Actually, that's just an example. I could give you examples all day long. O'Reilly once again bashed Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean as "fanatics" and "zealots", and then you wonder why more Dems don't appear? I'm not basing the attacks on a single interview. Every interview shows it. John Gibson mouthed off again claiming Democrats are ok with defeat in Iraq. O'Reilly railed against the Dems. Cavuto claimed a Democratic victory would increase inflation. What kind of proof do you exactly need for you to admit that their biased? MM produces easy-to-read studies highlighting the number of Dem and Rep guests on O'Reilly and H&C outnumber Dems by 2-1 and almost 3-1 margins, and you just scoff and ignore it. Cavuto runs with biased headlines all day long, you ignore it. They attack Democrats openly, you ignore it. By the way, Fox doesn't have a "large stable" of contributors, as the OP false claimed. Juan Williams, Kirsten Powers, Bob Beckel, Wesley Clarke, Laura Schwartz and Ellis Hennican is not large. Powers and Beckle are the only ones consistently brought on. I haven't seen Clark in a while, other than an appearance after the Kerry remark, and Hennican I saw on Fox News Watch substituting for Gabler, haven't seen him on for weeks otherwise, and Juan Williams I never really see on anymore outside of the Fox News panel on Sunday and one appearance discussing the media with O'Reilly last week. That's not a "large stable". It's in the single digits. For every one of them there's about 5 conservatives. Horowitz, Coulter, Malkin, Gallagher, North, Gingrich, etc... By the way, name a single liberal or Democratic author who was given time in the last month to talk about their new book that just came out, the way they promoted Coulter, Horowitz, Melanie Morgan and Gingrich when they came out with conservative books? You do realize that that they've had a media blitz for the GOP in the last days of the campaign? Cavuto interviewing Cheney. O'Reilly interviewing Bush. Gibson interviewing Snow multiple times. John Boehner being interviewed by Gibson, F&F, H&C, Cavuto and other daytime hosts? Interviews with Laura Bush and Dennis Hastert? Every major Republican player they could find. Fair and balanced? You've got to be kidding me. November 7, 2006, 1:57:52 AM EST – Like – Reply johnny dollar > I could give you examples all day long Like your phony claim that Brian Kilmeade "flat-out lied" about Lincoln Chafee? It's easy to give examples all day long when you just make 'em up! > Juan Williams, Kirsten Powers, Bob Beckel, Wesley Clarke, Laura Schwartz and Ellis Hennican is not large. No, but how about all the ones you conveniently left out, like Eleanor Clift, David Corn, Ellen Rattner, Geraldine Ferraro, etc etc? > Powers and Beckle are the only ones consistently brought on. I haven't seen Clark in a while Right. Clark was interviewed at least six times last week. > Horowitz, Coulter, Malkin, Gallagher, North, Gingrich, How interesting. When you list the Dem contributors you leave out more names than you list. Then when it comes to the right-side contribs, one-third of the names you cite aren't even with FNC! Yeah, you can cite facts all day long. Just make 'em up as you go along. Actually, I agree with Tom here. I do scoff and ignore it! Easy-to-read, what a testament to the target demographic of MM. Let O'Reilly tell you what I think of MM, straight from MM itself. http://mediamatters.org/items/200408080001 November 7, 2006, 10:18:26 AM EST – Like – Reply OverHere Gee, MM highlights guests on two OPINION programs--two hours out of 24 hours. And that's supposed to tell me WHAT about the other 22 hours of the day? OK not counting the replays, other 19 hours of the day?? I'm scoffing and ignoring along with Fox Fan... November 7, 2006, 10:46:06 AM EST – Like – Reply johnny dollar I've linked this before, but the way MM comes up with those "unbalanced" guest lists is simply to call people conservatives or republicans who in fact are NOT conservatives or republicans: http://johnnydollar.us/2004a/C1049953760/E20060525012119/index.html November 7, 2006, 12:39:03 PM EST – Like – Reply Ira Tom: You want to have it both ways. You complain that FNC doesnt have Dems and Liberals as guests. But when Chris Dodd is interviewed by Neil Cavuto, you whine that he is adversarial. I saw the interview live on Monday and thought that it was OK and apparently Dodd also had no complaints. BTW, many Dems refuse to appear on Fox because they are uncomfortable being placed on the hot seat. Sorry that Cavuto is not like Chris Matthews, George Stephanopoulos or the other former politicos on other networks masquerading as journalists and then asking tepid questions of fellow Dems. FYI, General Clark spent the last week barnstorming for Democratic candidates and apparently not available for studio interviews. Two observations: 1. With the Dems now in control of Congress, look for many more of them on Fox. As Committee chairpersons, they are now legitimate newsmakers and will want to reach the largest cable news audience which is not on CNN or MSNBC. 2. As I have said before, the supposed imbalance of guests at FNC is basically caused by one man: Newt Gingrich! He is way overexposed, especially on OReilly, Hannity (including his radio show) and even Greta. Take Newt out of the mix and Tom, Media Matters and the News Hounds will have much less to nag about. November 8, 2006, 4:01:01 PM EST – Like – Reply Tom Well, turns out you were wrong. H&C did a segment tonight. Guess who? Oliver North and Tom Delay bashing Dems, no Democratic guests. Then another segment with Neal Boortz, a Republican strategist and Laura schwartz. Four conservatives. One Democrat. Yeah, looks like Fox is really rolling in the Dems now. The opening day of victory and they stuffed H&C with conservatives anyway. By the way, check out Fox New's contributor list. There are far more conservatives and Republicans than libs or Dems. And no one I listed earlier was NOT a contributor. Every one of them was. Clearly Johnny is just too obsessed defending his party's propaganda outlet to bother with facts. November 8, 2006, 9:58:55 PM EST – Like – Reply johnny dollar Gee Tom, didn't you leave some stuff out? Like David Boies, Al Gore's recount attorney, who was on WITH NO REPUBLICAN? Or how about Jesse Jackson, who was on WITH NO REPUBLICAN? And when you consider that Boortz is not a conservative, but a libertarian, your count is even more wrong. By the way, you check out Fox's contributor list. Do you see Wesley Clark on it? They haven't updated that list in years. So you deliberately leave out two segments with nothing but Dems, misidentify a libertarian, and then say I don't bother with facts? You've been caught flat-out wrong once again. Maybe you should go back to one of your previous triumphs, your phony charge against Brian Kilmeade. LOL. November 8, 2006, 10:44:11 PM EST – Like – Reply Johnthebaptist Not to mention Tom listed 3, not 4 people he claims as conservatives (unless of course you were counting Hannity while ignoring Colmes?) November 9, 2006, 4:51:26 PM EST – Like – Reply Tom Libertarians are conservative, you idiot. Your basic lack of ideological identity makes discussing this fairly irrelevant if you like to pretend that libertarians are "something in between". They're not. By the way, Fox has hired a new contributor. He came into the studio today and immediately started calling Democrats and liberals "terrorists". Check out the video at foxnews.com. Fair and balanced hatemongering fanaticism! Any more name calling and I'll enforce the rules. As for libertarians being the same thing as conservatives...well, you've obviously never read their platform. November 11, 2006, 9:35:31 PM EST – Like – Reply Fox Fan > Libertarians are conservative, you idiot. Libertarian is to authoritarian as liberal is to conservative. They are opposite ends of two completely different dimensions of the political spectrum. Have a visit to www.politicalcompass.org for details. >By the way, Fox has hired a new contributor. He came into the studio today and immediately started calling Democrats and liberals "terrorists". Liberal democrats are NOT terrorists. They just vote against any anti-terror measure the US proposes and support financial appeasement of terrorist states. They are on the terrorists side, but don't have to balls to be suicide bombers themselves. November 11, 2006, 10:30:31 PM EST – Like – Reply Tom "They are on the terrorists side, but don't have to balls to be suicide bombers themselves." Know what terrorists remind me of? Conservatives who hate abortion rights and gay rights. You guys should organize and anti-abortion and anti-gay rights rally in Tehran sometime with your pals from the Afghan caves. November 12, 2006, 1:00:44 AM EST – Like – Reply Fox Fan >You guys should organize and anti-abortion and anti-gay rights rally in Tehran sometime with your pals from the Afghan caves. You mean "our pals" that we've been at war against, a war that the democrats try to obstruct by voting against (after voting for)? "Our pals" that fight in civilian clothing behind women and children who the democrats want to give civil hearings and Geneva Convention protections to? "Our pals" that want us all dead, democrat or republican, that one party seems to feel sorry for while the other wants them eliminated? Which party is their pal, pal? November 12, 2006, 10:40:05 AM EST – Like – Reply Johnthebaptist Tom, you would probably get farther in the debate without breaking down to calling people idiots, especially when you then go on to make a completely false statement. Calling the libertarians conservative is just wrong since they are basically for a 'anything goes' kind of platform, i.e. pro gay, pro choice (really no regulation at all) which as you claim in your own post on 11.12.06 - 1:05 am ("Conservatives who hate abortion rights and gay rights")is opposite of a conservative view.
