David Asman interviews Sen Trent Lott about The Great Compromise. Was Asman's use of "we" proof of a Freudian slip, identifying himself with the GOP? Was he using "we" in a general sense to reference the Senate or the US government?

Or was Asman simply taking Lott's phrases and quoting them back to him, to ask a follow-up question?
