At least Kathy Griffin doesn't subscribe to the political correctness disease TP and NHs do. I especially liked what she had to say about Sanjay Gupta.

She also exposed why CNN tapped her to host the New Years show, wishing viewers a "blue" new year.

I'm glad we have one fair and balanced network that doesn't shove political bias down our gullets during nonpolitical broadcasts!

I'm still waiting for all the condemnations over the LA Times for publishing the Magic Negro article in the first place. How odd that the phrase is perfectly acceptable in newspapers, but becomes eeevil the minute a text message references it on Fox. If you think that, you just might be a Fox hater.

Mighty generous of you to call it a blunder.

Based upon the logic of FNCgrudgers, you should charge that it was an intentional racial epithet since MSNBC has had past blunders so this constitutes a pattern.

He's a little child who is acting up to try to get our attention. Like an attention starved toddler crying out to his parents..."Mommy, Mommy, Daddy, Daddy, Look at me, Look at me Daddy!". Mike, you must be the daddy figure, based on his homophobic comments made about me, I suppose he looks to me as the mother figure.

I had to chuckle over his latest outburst at OW - "It is really sad when you have to create a site to make fun of someone". This is the same person who said he was creating a new website called "Foxnewsisfixed.com". He said it would be done by September, but the incompetent l'il feller just can't get the job done.

I note he also claimed that Keith "Czechoslovakia" Olbermann would soon be in first place. Wasn't the l'il feller was saying the same thing in 08, that K"C"O would be in the lead by the Election? Looking back over the ratings, I can see that Keithy has skyrocked in the ratings from third place to third place over that time.

By the way, does anyone know if the Newshounds have apologized yet for "stealing" the slogans of KFC and scrubbing bubbles?

Thank you Johnny for the link.

Firstly, The article was written for the opinion page. So it's not necessarily the point of view of the LAT. Just like post here aren't the point of views of the site owner,

Secondly, I'd imagine the vast majority of the public heard the term 1st from the Limbaugh radio show. He was using the term quite differently than used in the LAT article.

Something more and more MSNBC viewers will be doing.

Two hours of Charles Manson then the 45th repeat of "Caught on Camera". Yup! Hard hitting news. If it's happening anywhere in the world, it's news to MSNBC!*

CNN did a great job starting out the new year. Considering her previous history with the Christian bigotry comments, and her appearance on CNN one year earlier with the drag queen comments, it was a real smart move for CNN to give her another shot on live TV to launch more bigotry.

I agree with you Johnny. But the term has taken on a new meaning since the article was first printed (March 19, 2007)
The Right Wing fall back on the original article to justify their use of it. FNC were wrong in allowing it to air. But then again FNC have a habit of airing controversial comments that denigrate Democrats.
I don't think a comment would have got through "moderation" if it had made say Palin look bad. Do you?

It wasn't my post, Johnny.

As to the term "magic negro", it was NOT coined by the LA Times writer.

Other examples of archetypes are the Bitch-Goddess or WASP (white anglo-saxon protestant).

The magical negro connotes an archetype contrived by whites in order to help whites feel good about themselves.

It symbolizes the racial assumptions inherent in conferring mythic qualities upon a person of color while simultaneously relegating them to using that power only in a supporting role to the TRUE protagonist (the white person) in fulfilling the protagonist's emotional and physical needs and desires.

The reason it's a pity that the term got through on the twitter thing, is because there so many partisan dimwits who not only have the same abstract reasoning abilities as a cat, but share the same predatory nature as well.

If you don't like the Third Degree as you call it, you don't have to answer. But I don't have to let someone who is not following the rules post at all. I need you to articulate the new meaning the Limbaugh lyrics give the the magic negro archetype if we're going to be able to discuss your point about it now having one, M-P-P.

I'll give you mine. If you'll google the lyrics of the Limbaugh parody, you'll see that they aren't lampooning Obama, as much as the public debate among liberals that occurred after it became clear that Obama was a viable candidate.

That debate was that Obama seemed straight out of central casting and that he had not paid his dues as had other figures in the civil rights movement.

Jesse Jackson had an open-mic comment that revealed this attitude pretty shockingly.

Aside from this, you have no idea that the writers of the message weren't precisely in agreement with Mr. Ehrenstein and the traditional meaning of the magic negro.

Neither the song lyrics, nor the designation of the archetype "magic negro", classify as racism.

No need to apologize. You haven't written anything requiring an apology. To clarify, I don't have a beef with anyone, but a troll poster we call Patrick is infatuated with me. He goes by many names. Reads this site all the time and occasionally drops in to launch some insane tirades. I do not believe you are this same person.

The other poster referred to today is Haggis. He/She posts under several names. I don't feel I have a beef with them, but I have been aggressive in identifying this persons lies and deceptions. I come to this site in pursuit of the truth; so many lies are told about FNC. I'm here to counter the liars and their lies.

Unfortunately for you and your timing as posting new here, you have become suspect. It's a long story, but you appear right after Chippy formerly Alabama Dem formerly Spider formerly Humpty Dumpty formerly Haggis drops off.

If you are Haggis (and I am far from being convinced of that), you will quickly be revealed. If you are not Haggis, which I personally hope is the case, we'll all figure that out quickly too. Haggis cannot hide for long.

Cecelia, I understand what your saying. The Right Wing (I'm not meaning to say you are, I don't know) use Obama's middle name to try and portray him as a certain type of person, I think we all know what I mean without having to go into details. I just feel they're also using the "magic negro" term to do the same sort of thing. They know they can't use the "N" word, so are now substituting "magic negro" for the "N" word. This is just my opinion and I'm not saying anyone here is doing this. No offence intended.

I'm not offended at all, M-P-P, but to suggest that an allusion to a narrative archetype is code for the n-word when a conservative makes it (or parodies it) or if it pops up on an FNC twitter, is a hideously unfair assumption.

What input? All you've done is lie. Haggy, you know very well I went after what the poster was commenting on, not the poster personally. Also, I like you as Haggy, not as Chippy. But if you are going to tell M-P-P that, why not tell him all the facts??

For example -

In November, you begain posting as "Alabama Dem". As AD, you admitted that you had been to this site before under a different name and that you knew Cecelia. You later wrote that you had never been here before and claimed that you mistook this site for another site. However, you have failed to advise us which site you were talking about then where you knew Cecelia, if not J$P.

You said nothing of being European until your writings revealed you were not a southerner. When confronted by others, you admitted you were from Wales. Since then, you have admitted your lie and you have stated that you falsely claimed to be from Wales to throw us off the track.

You changed to posting as ChippyMinton. In your first post as Chippy, you claimed that you were a first-time poster. We now know that was a lie. You denied knowing Haggy or being Alabama Dem. It was later established that you were lying again.

You repeatedly expressed bewilderment about the identity of Haggis. You repeatedly denied knowing Haggis. This went on for days. We now know that was a lie when you were confronted with the fact that your IP address used as ChippyMinton was the same as that used by Haggis months earlier. You then revealed that you had been lying and not only knew Haggis, but was staying in his apartment which you claimed to own.

You have repeatedly lied when posting here. You have repeatedly made false assertions that you cannot back-up, and when confronted with facts, you change the subject. When specifically asked for information to back-up your claim, you ignore it.

When the topic of your IP address came up recently, you were asked for a second time by J$ if he had your permission to make public your IP address. You again said no (which we all can understand, if J$ asked the same of me I would have the same reply). However - when informed that your IP address has been changing, you then stated that your IP changes each time you connect your router. Perhaps that is so, but if true and you are not using a proxy service, then out of the millions of possible IP numbers you could randomly be assigned, it would have to be one AMAZING coincidence that you got the same one used by Haggis a few months earlier.

There a number of other lies and deceptions you have engaged in over the past month. When I call you a liar, it is not slander. The defense against a slander charge is the truth. You have lied repeatedly here, they've been documented. You've admitted to some of them.

Also, when you say "you really like me". I like you as Haggy, not as Chippy. I don't remember the Haggis persona lying nearly as much. Still a liar when his link to Newshounds (which he apparently denied for a long time) was established to be true.

As I said in my earlier post, I wish Haggis would simply fess up and comeback as the Fox Hater we all know and love.

The Willie Horton add is an example of this. There is a very good documentary called "Boogie Man: The Lee Atwater Story" that goes into how this was used. I highly recommend it and it's not some Left Wing hit job.

FNC had dull Megyn and Bill...Straight laced in other words....While on the other hand CNN had some good funny edgy stuff that made the viewers laugh.
ChippyMinton | 01.02.09 - 7:03 pm | #

Haggis - I doubt that anyone in the news business is jealous of CNN over their New Years performance. Do you think in Dec '09 the CNN execs will request Kathy "suck this jesus" Griffin to appear for a third time???

Considering your string of hypocritical thoughts uttered previously, I can't help but think that there is no way, NO WAY, you would be so kind to FNC if it was Bill Hemmer and Griffin using the "I don't come to your work" line.

Obsession is being a huge Keith "Czechoslovakia" Olbermann fan, repeatedly commending his performances, when you don't even have the ability to watch MSNBC in Scotland, and months before you found a way to watch clips online.

Ashley, I wasn't trying to imply that Horton was a nice person, he wasn't. But he was used to frighten the American people as a scary black person. Just look at the picture used of him. If you watch the documentary I mentioned, you'll find out that all that was said about Dukakis was not true. I watched it a while ago and to be honest can't remember the facts entirely, So wouldn't want to say something that may turn out to be false.

Cecelia, under no circumstances am I meaning to insinuate that the whole Right Wing would do such a thing. but the Right have used implied racism by using buzz words and images. The Willie Horton add is an example of this. There is a very good documentary called "Boogie Man: The Lee Atwater Story" that goes into how this was used. I highly recommend it and it's not some Left Wing hit job.
My-Pinch-Point | 01.02.09 - 6:45 pm | #

Actually, you've assumed more than that. You've assumed that the people who wrote the message were conservatives, that they were knowingly using code language for the n-word, and you have assumed it simply by virtue of their using the term and by its appearance on Fox.

Even if you admit that you can't be sure these people were racists, you've assumed that FNC used the "new meaning" of their words to broadcast a racist epithet to its audience.

You done this without making any arguments based upon the actual lyrics of the song you cite or upon the definition of the magic negro archetype or it's use in what was the current pre-election public debate.

You've tried to assure me that you would never suggest that EVERYONE on the right would use the term in this way as though such an obvious conclusion should be evidence of your equanimity.

But why should I put any stock in the assurances of someone who has made such blanket assumptions as the ones you've made? Why would I believe that you have ANY equanimity when you seem to be arguing that while you don't believe everyone on the Right is racist, you'll settle for implying that about the complete strangers who sent the message and the FNC stafers (who you also couldn't pick out in a police lineup) who happened to be working that night.

Of course you're obsessed, Chippy. You're a foxgrudger.

It's why you search the internet looking for anti-fox stuff. It's why you then bring it here in an effort to barb a FNC fan.

It's why you bother to weave elaborate lies about where and how you obtained the info in the first place.

It's why you've changed identities in the futile hope of disguising yourself and being taken seriously for even half a day.

You are an obsessed Fox hater, Chips. We know it. Ashley chronicles it. You know it too.

BTW-- Love the comment about the entertainment value of Kathy Griffin. You'll see it again with your next spiel about FNC content.

You may laugh at my comment...But CNN blasted FNC out the water in the ratings...Laugh at that one if you dare.

Anderson Cooper-Kathy Griffin special drew 2.31M Total Viewers from 11pmET-1amET

Megyn Kelly and Bill Hemmer 11pm-1am drew 1.58M Total Viewers.

That say everything...Kathy will be back next year....The same can't be said for Megyn Kelly and Bill Hemmer...They were pleading with folk to watch during their morning show...seems folk didn't listen.

Did the producers of the ad have a selection of photos of Willy Horton? I doubt that.

I also can't believe that the producers would have said, "No, let's not use the Horton issue" if Horton was white.

What he did was evil. It deserved to be brought to the attention of the American public.

We did check FNC out when we got back from the Edinburgh party(100,000+) and yes I do have African American friends living in Scotland. I also meet a number of Americans at the party....they were all very friendly and a great laugh...All of them said the same thing about FNC....When I asked...CRAP. Allow me to summarize ChippyMinton's New Years experience based on his recents posts on the subject.

*** Everybody in Scotland hates FNC

*** Despite that fact, the pub owners chose to have FNC rather than CNN be shown in their pub.

*** Despite FNC being broadcast, somehow Chippy was able to watch CNN and determine what a wonderful job they were doing.

*** At approximately 3:50 AM in Scotland on January 1, 2009, Chippy and his many of his "African American friends living in Scotland" were all in that same pub watching the television at the same exact moment and all were able to see the "magic negro" comment pass by on the crawl for a duration less than one second.

*** Chippy doesn't mention having any African-Scot friends, only African-Americans.

*** Chippy mentioned that he had a long drive to Edinborough where he would spend New Years.

*** Chippy did not have friends near his home that he wanted to spend New Years Eve with. Instead, he chose to drive long-distance to Edinborough to spend New Years Eve with Americans. Americans who hate Fox News but had nothing better to do at 3:50 in the morning than to watch Fox News.

Cue Bill Cosby as God talking to Noah....

"Riiiiight".

Simple....I just Goggled "Australian Proxy" and a list appeared...I then used a proxy checker to see if one worked...it did...Hence the Haggis in Australia post.
My downfall was using sites that you just paste the URL into and they then say you are under a proxy....They don't tell you you need to go through the whole procedure every time you post....Hence my IP appeared...Then the outlandish fabrications took over

Confession is good for the soul. Make ammends to those you have harmed, promptly admit your mistakes, strive for progress, not perfection and if the urge to lie becomes overwhelming, simply keep your mouth shut or your fingers off the keyboard untill the urge subsides.

Haggis is an obsessed amoral weasel who is sure to introduce more sock puppets to the site. He'll branch out into straw man sock puppets too.

My vote is that if he posts here he must always do it with Ashley's disclaimer or some other "buyer beware" symbol at the bottom of his posts.

If Johnny can add a "caution" symbol to posts he suspects are from Haggis (and there will be lots) that would be helpful too.

Johnny,

I have a suggestion for your list of primo Christmas fare.

I DVR'd at random some of the Twilight Zone marathon on Sci-Fi this New Year Eve and have happily discovered that I've recorded a Christmas episode of the vintage series.

The episode is The Changing of the Guard and it's lovely!

BTW, everyone, if you have satellite radio, there is a channel called Classic Radio that I had never listened to until Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar. I recently heard a presentation with ORSON WELLS!! called The Affairs of Antole. It was a stitch!

The entire channel is great fun.

FF, in order to receive "forgiveness" you have to admit that you have done something wrong and offensive.

So far all I've seen from Haggis is the Clucker version of an apology. For labeling others (such as Ashley) as being obsessive, paranoid, and unfair (While even talking to himself as My-Pinch-Point!) all Haggis says is that he told some adorable little wee white naughties...

Like any troll/foxgrudger, he both fancies himself as speaking truth to evil fox fans AND bringing the joy of his dazzling creativity into their bleak lives.

Speak for yourself, FF, when you confirm THAT notion to him...

When I hear a proper admission and apology from Haggis, then I'll consider forgiveness.

Although I haven't commented for a while I have been following the site fairly well so I don't think it is out of line for me to comment on this.

I agree with Cecelia completely. Whatever Nom du Jour Bull Chip uses he has absolutely nothing of value to add to the site.

His behavior reeks of nasty, condescending hubris. He is not a light hearted bon vivant poking fun at both himself and us. He is strictly laughing at everyone else. In my opinion he is just a rather distasteful little man.

I noticed that there was some discussion about the need for moderation and some suggestions tonight so here goes my two cents. I really dislike the prior approval on a comment by comment basis. It feels so arkward and can drag along so that you miss responses. It can result in a stilted conversation.

On the other hand Johnny has no choice b/c without it the circling vultures swoop in as soon as they get a chance and wreak havoc.

That's why I wish Johnny would try some sort of limited open posting privileges for those who don't and won't abuse the privilege, with the understanding that any abuse of his generosity would not be tolerated.

Here here, if it is possible to set up in Haloscan's system.

I do believe the anti-trolls here go overboard on Haggis. I also believe that they attribute OTM's qualities from whatever life-altering trolling he did back in the day at OW to much less offensive people like Haggis and respond to him and others in the same manner.

Most of his posts may not be relevant to cable news, but have any of ours been regarding his exposure and confession over the last few weeks?

If I were him, attacks on my personality would fuel me to concoct ever more "nasty, condescending hubris" and I would feel justified in doing so. Not a suggestion, Haggis, let's hope you have more self-control than I do.

No, you have that backwards.

Haggis came to the site and proceeded to concoct nasty condescending hubris and lies.

We then called him out.

That's not an "attack" on his personality. That's merely pointing out reality.

FF, there's no need for you to worry for a minute that you are encouraging or helping to justify Haggis in concocting mischief here. That's his intent from jump street.

It's why Johnny must monitor the site as he does and it's why Haggis had to concoct a Stan, a My-Pinch-Point, an Alabama Dem, a HSUK, etc.

Haggis will not be able to function here without alternates and sockpuppets. His inherent obsessive disdain for the site and for subject matter will always make it necessary for him to don disguises in order to have some gravity for at least a while.

He's not a dissenter or a critic. He's a troll.

BTW-- you had a life-altering experience at OW too. One that has kept you from posting there since, did you not?

More on the link: WPitW will not be retired. Trust me. As long as Monkeymann is under the NBC umbrella and has a nightly show on MSNBC, he will continue to attack (via blue blogs) conservatives, Republicans, Democratics or liberals that aren't progressive enough or stray from the lockstep, and anyone that works at News Corp., particularly Fox News Channel/Radio/Fox Business Network/FOXNews.com, WPitW will continue to exist. Also, Man on Fan's Olbsession will continue to be feed as long as the eeevil O'Reilly is still on the air. So, expect the ad hominem attacks to keep on coming.
The writer of that article got a fact wrong, though: NBC's NFL coverage is through until Super Bowl XLIII on February 1. There is no "next week" to worry about...until January 25. I fear Krazy Keith's ego will inflate so much, he'll barely be able to keep his head up as he'll be front and center in pregame and halftime coverage. I guarantee it.

FF, telling Haggis he's a liar when he admittedly lied (and lied..and lied...) is not some sort of ad hominem personal attack.

Neither is saying that he's only here to gig regulars by recycling disproved hogwash or making distortions about any number of things that occur on Fox & Friends, The Factor, etc, when Haggis has continually done just that. Done it and had to back off from it when confronted.

Neither is accusing him of producing sockpuppets and alters --- when he has produced sock puppets and alters.

Now to be perfectly FAIR, FF, let me assure you that if I ever happened to do any of these things, THEN you or Johnny and even Haggis may call me a liar and a troll and be perfectly justified.

However, until then, it is not fair (and certainly not logical) to suggest that Haggis has shown civility because he has refrained from accusing me of things I have NOT DONE...

According to the "Stay Classy, CNN" link, Missy, Kathy requested "a pap smear" from Dr. Gupta. She also described current FNC host--effective two weeks from tomorrow at 5PM ET--Glenn Beck as a "heroin addict Mormon." What a delightful young lady she is. And since she is now the Keith Olbermann of CNN's New Year's Eve coverage, she'll be back for next year and for many years to come. I guarantee it. FF, I find these sentiments from you somewhat puzzling and in some points factually wrong.

"I do believe the anti-trolls here go overboard on Haggis. I also believe that they attribute OTM's qualities from whatever life-altering trolling he did back in the day at OW to much less offensive people like Haggis and respond to him and others in the same manner."

Are you saying, or implying, that b/c Bull Chip ( a device I will use to represent all the Nom du Jours past, present and future for Haggis) should have tolerant acceptance by all b/c he does not, yet, sink to the depths of Flucker. He does share several traits with Flucker even if his behavior does not sink to Flucker's depths.

"If I were him, attacks on my personality would fuel me to concoct ever more "nasty, condescending hubris" and I would feel justified in doing so. Not a suggestion, Haggis, let's hope you have more self-control than I do."

Could you point out all those attacks on his "personality" that were made that somehow "justify" his lies that began virtually on day one? I very clearly said BEHAVIOR here"His behavior reeks of nasty, condescending hubris. " I thought I made it clear that it is my OPINION that his behavior obviously flows from the fact that he behaves/is a "A DISTASTEFUL LITTLE MAN."

Since you obviously disagree with my assesment of Bull Chip what is your assesment of his behavior? You do not consider multiple identities, sometimes holding conversations with himself, blatantly lying when suspcions arise followed by accusations that the accusers are paranoid, obsessed, insulting etc as relavent and legitimate traits to use to form an unflattering opinion of someone?

And how does Bull Chip respond to your defense of him? In a very Fluckeresque way:

" Thanks FF for trying,,,but I fear your bashing your head up against a brick wall.
I'd like to see all these nasty comments I've made about posters at this site.
I find it bewildering that some here totally object to me posting with a different view point to their own.
HaggisFarmer | 01.04.09 - 2:43 pm |"

Against such calumny against him you put forth a righteous effort that is doomed to failure by those who unjustly malign him followed by a challenge to provide specific "nasty" comments he made. And then concluding that he has been so put upon and defiled simply b/c he disagrees with those who attack him.

How is that for turning something on its head to only follow up with an even worst distortion to MikeC:

"Mike...Why are you going after me with such venom?....I'm really beginning to feel threatened by all the attacks I'm receiving here.
HaggisFarmer | 01.04.09 - 3:28 pm |"

To make myself perfectly clear his condescending nasty hubris is not individual comments but the body of his work taken as a whole. While protesting that he "Aw shucks golly mam I jist been funning around with yall.Never aimed to do no harm, jist laughing with yall" I find it obvious that he is laughing at us. and FF, he may be laughing hardest at you.

I like (did you mean love? lol) you very much too Cece. We agree on much more than we disagree on. We always get stuck on the same issues instead of focusing on the objective- exposing lies about FNC by haters. Something I'm happy to do even if it's Haggis that I have to correct.

For now we can disagree on Haggis but agree on the most fair and balanced cable news organization in the US of A.

Is Patrick having fun, too? (If he's reading this, I am not degrading you by asking that.)

Amen FF....At least there's someone here with a sense of humour...Ashley also appears to see the funny side of it,,,,I'm assuming....maybe wrongly...that Johnny also does.

Haggis is having fun, you are both fuming over nothing, and I am watching it all unfold like a twisted flower of humor and spite.

FF, the only person fuming is you. Otherwise you'd no more care about defending Haggis or about whether Grammie or I accepted his apology, than you profess to care about Haggis' "outrageous" behavior.

I don't know, FF. Aren't they having fun manipulating people that think they're just having fun, all while wasting our and Johnny's time?

And hey, you also have ICN and TVNewser, right? Plus, you can even come on down to my blog. There's yuks-a-plenty to be found at all venues. You see, it's good to be on your side. Enlightenment is the only way. Good for goodness sake Bless the Progressive States of America...and our Lord Keith Olbermann.

FF,

I'm so glad!

I meant to say "like" but I'm so used to IMing "love" to my daughter that I misspelled it.

Then again, it could have been a Freudian.

Why are most Fox News lover so thin skinned, are they sad because deep down they know that their network is not "Fair and Balanced.

Where was I fuming CC? I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to bring people together. I reserve the right to remain on both sides' good sides objectively. If that makes me fuming, then I am guilty.

Baked Beans, does that make me uptight? Didn't think so!

FF, I'm afraid I don't know how to interpret this:

"a twisted flower of humor and spite."

My inclination is to combine your "twisted" and "spite" with the fuming sentiment you expressed. Actually, no matter who you ascribe those mean attributes to I am surprised it comes from someone who, b/c he wants to be in everyone's good graces, is so adamantly nonjudgmental.

So, who were you judging so harshly: Cecelia, Bull Chip or me? I do hope it is not Bull Chip. He is already so fearful b/c that raging bully Mike C. has been so venomous to him that he feels threatened. I would hate to be the cause of even more stress and fear assaulting the wee lad's psyche.

Btw, you never answered my question. At what point would trollish behavior trigger your ire and condemnation? Or, is there no point on the contimnum that you would object to?

Grammie, to answer both of your questions, I was judging Cecelia and to a lesser extent you "so harshly".

I prefer a troll to someone who never stops bitching about a troll. At least the troll is funny sometimes.

We'll leave it at that.

Since trolls invariably consider their impulse to scam some target, as being elfish, creative, and clever, I find great humor in posts that expose and unload on them.
