No, Beck is not "bullet-proof" because despite ratings, FNC will capitulate to pressure from the opprobrium of media elites.

Opprobrium that Keith Olbermann (despite his plethora of heinous charges and characterizations of the former president) and MSNBC never incurred.

Is that so?

Then perhaps you can assist with providing us with the locations of your answers to the following questions:

#1 - Who called who a liar? Please give the example and explain why that individual should NOT have been called a liar by the other.
Ashley | 08.21.09 - 4:39 pm | #

#2 - Please give an example of us "spinning something Olbermann said". Spinning indicates that we are twisting the meaning of something said. What was it?
Ashley | 08.27.09 - 4:09 pm | #

#3 - Recess is over! Please provide evidence of:

1. My spinning something Olberman said.
2. Someone here spinning something Olbermann said (Do #2 only after #1 is completed).
ramjet | Homepage | 08.27.09 - 4:18 pm | #

#4 - Well then did someone sneak into your house and use your IP address? Hey I don't care if you posted here before or not. But it's better to ignore questions like that than to misrepresent--just a general comment, not directed at you or anyone else.

I don't know the exact number, but it is probably equal or close to the number of times Haggis has distorted the issue, omitted facts, or made things up.

Are you interested in Cable Business News? We discuss it every now and then. These days, with the economy in its current state and plans to change the health care situation, stimulus plans, unemployment, etc; it turns out that CNBC's ratings are plummeting while FBN's are growing. In fact, FBN is the "Gold Standard" of Cable Business News. Along with Alexis Glick and Neil Cavuto, more and more people are turning to FBN for their business news on cable. Apparently, many of their new viewers are former CNBC viewers.

Nope, just like I did not believe George Bush was maneuvering to have habeus corpus rights taken away back in the day when Olbermann was predicting the end of our republic.

Where were you two on that claim? I recall lots of Olbermann fans worried about it and expressing their support of Olbermann over at OW.

You see, Olbermann claims to be a rational, mainstream journalist all the while making fun of Beck, teabaggers, birthers, FNC viewers, conservatives, republicans, Christians, you name it....fogretting the paranoid little man he was a short 7 months ago when the powers that ran the government were not ideologically aligned to his agenda.....

Can relate to that sentiment! Canadian's feel much the same about our CBC, although CTV is fairly straightforward also.

American Media, as a whole, has become rather shrill. I find myself watching CNN less and less if I want real news, which is really a shame. They use to be very good with their international coverage and unbiased reports. Now it seems there is little to choose between the 3 large outlets/networks. Perhaps the CBS, ABC and NBC's are better, but they are limited to the evening news so I seldom get a chance to watch.

In my humble opinion, it is pathetic for anyone to continue to repeat a lie after it has been easily been debunked.

But when they have no facts to support their opinion and only blind hatred mixed with low scruples, it's understandable why they do it.

Funny that Haggis has no problem with Olbermann calling the President a terrorist, a racist, a liar, a murderer, etc. I bet he'd really put his foot down if Olby called the president a pinhead.

BOR did not call a peach cobbler a pinhead. He called people who don't save room for peach cobbler pinheads. And as this was all based on something that Pres. Obama had written, he is not included in this group.

Yes he didn't say terrorists. Point to Haggis. But he did call them racists. Now that we're done quarreling about what he said, answer the question. Is he right or wrong?

Do I see that correctly?

Beck's sermon about what the left believes is "Obama's private army" was seen by over 2.5 million of my fellow citizens?

Why don't I see revolution in the streets?

Again, 2.5 million tinfoil hatters, paranoids, loons, racists and terrorists....

And pinheads!

1/2 point to Haggis....

Although Olbermann did not explicitly call Fox viewers terrorists, back in July he tied Bill O'Reilly to Dr. Tiller's murder and blamed FOX NEWS for the "terrorist" activity....I would call that another unfair slam on the network, especially after he called for the boycott of FNC.

Boy, oh boy, look at those ratings.....Americans are becoming terrorist supporting, tinfoil hatters, pinheads, loons and racists by the hundreds of thousands.

While I always welcome J$ counsel, it's not necessary. I believe my admitting skills are quite good. For example, I admit that I never said that the 18-34 demo was bad for advisors.

I admit that I've proven you to be wrong on many occastions.

I admit that I've proven you to be, errr, not always truthful.

I admit that I am far better than you at answering other posters questions posed to me.

I admit that you are far better than me at ducking and avoiding direct specific questions posed from other posters.

I admit that I am far more smarter, funnier, well liked, respected, distinguished, witty, clever, resourceful, talented, loyal, popular at parties, and above all...far more modest than you.

Don't know where Beck got his 350% increase in gun crime in the UK (since 1998) from. Check out the graph at link below section 3.1 Chart 1: Offences recorded in which firearm use was reported 1969 to 2007/08, England & Wales.

I thought i heard him say 50%. He might have gotten that from here:

or here:

In any case, I don't believe the report you posted dealt with Beck's statement,--what happened after the ban was instated--it rather dealt with what happened over the past few years. Interesting but irrelevant.

But fear not. MM will have something on this shortly.

Not a matter of being good enough for me, I just question why you would make a claim about the UK then only provide evidence one-half of the statistics.

Gosh Haggy, and I've been saying many times lately that you're an expert in Stats!!!

But by your standard, I could show how gun crime has now been cut 50% in the United States, I simply won't count 25 of them.

OK I throw in the towel. Beck was wrong about a 340 percent increase.

According to Home Office figures, it was actually more like 440 percent.

Haggis makes a serious point. Why is Beck trying to cover up how bad the increase actually was?

Perhaps, I am glad to admit that I don't know a lot about the UK, but I do know that if someone is going to cite something as representing the entire UK, they need to include the Statistics for the entire UK.

Under most other circumstances, I would not have brought this up, but since Haggis has an impressive track record of omitting key facts in order to make his point, I must remain skeptical of everything he posts.

Perhaps as a personal favor to Haggis. It's a pathetic attempt by Beck to help property values in Scotland so that Haggis's electric satelite dish equipped flat that he rents to his friend Chippy won't drop in value.

"Just admit beck is talking nonsense. "

Why admit something based on your say-so? The stats you cited didn't even address his statement, which was about the 7 years after the ban was put in place. So they disprove nothing he said. And the stats from the Home Office seem to indicate matters were even worse than Beck claimed.

So if you are going to insist Beck's statement is nonsense, then you had best present some documentation that proves what he said about that seven-year period is wrong. Or admit that perhaps you may have been in error.

I'M SORRY but the article you quoted does not deal with the seven period Beck was talking about. The article I cited does deal with that period, and just because you say there are 'no other statistics' to back it up doesn't prove it wrong. In fact, you have yet to quote a single statistic that demonstrates Beck was wrong about that 7-yr period. I'll give you one last chance to cite the proof that he was wrong about the 7-year period, so use it well.

It's midnight eastern time and FNC just did a good job broadcasting the night launch of the Space Shuttle. Still covering it almost 7 minutes after the launch.

CNN did a good job, but they quickly broke away to return to Larry King.

MSNBC did it's typical poor job of covering it. Showed it in a separate window, 1/4 of the screen. MSNBC stayed in a Kennedy Documentary.

Very few space shuttle missions remaining in our lifetimes, and MSNBC can't spend 5 minutes on it.
