Poor Lou Dobbs.

He'd have been far far better off, if instead of showing his modicum of open-mindedness to Birther conspiracy theorists, he had shown it towards those who believe that the Bush Administration was behind 9/11 or that Bristol Palin was Trig Palen's mother, rather than his sister.

Johnny,

Karl Rove has put his DC digs on the market.

His crib is fairly fussy and pretty tired, but comfortable, at least.

I'm so over trendy, unlivable, mid-century modern decor, that I forgive the chintz and the washed-out pastels.

I hope thoughtful and rational people keep the "Birther" conspiracy issue in perspective....I found a nice article about a poll regarding "9/11 truth" from back in 2006 and it is interesting that the author actually excuses the theory that our government was behind the attack on the unpopularity of The Iraq War and on Bush's growing unpopularity.....

Third of Americans suspect 9-11 government conspiracy

"Widespread resentment and alienation toward the national government appears to be fueling a growing acceptance of conspiracy theories about the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

"Suspicions that the 9/11 attacks were 'an inside job,' the common phrase used by conspiracy theorists on the Internet, quickly have become nearly as popular as decades-old conspiracy theories that the federal government was responsible for President John F. Kennedy's assassination and that it has covered up proof of space aliens.

"Seventy percent of people who give credence to these theories also say they've become angrier with the federal government than they used to be."

I have yet to read an MSM story on "The Birthers" giving any background for perspective like the hyperpartisan environment of the country currently, etc.

I have found columns connecting Birthers to the relgious right (without evidence) and as a sign of racism.

The hyperpartisan environ will be increased if this is going to be the tactic....If that's the case, I may just become a "Birther."

Re: "Flashback": A young Shepard Smith. I eventually scrolled down to the comment thread and per usual at GretaWire, people went off topic into political news delivered from a right-leaning perspective. That's why I love this site. If anyone drifts too far from cable news, J$ is there to get us back.

True, Cee.

I read that a radio poll had 85% of Canadians believing that 9/11 was perpetrated by the U.S. govt.

You can believe that the moon walk was faked... that Hoover had JFK assassinated...
that Regan Adminstration foisted HIV and crack cocaine in order to kill people of color... all FAR FAR more elaborate plots, involving collusion of several govt agencies and govt branches, and you'd still not be the cause of some people pulling out their own hair and calling you the most insane, evil and vicious racist in the world.

Pres. Obama can sit under the tutelage of a personal pastor who believes that the U.S. govt is evil to the core, and still not be associated with that sort of paranoia.

The Republican Party is screwed and tattooed nightly by MSNBC personalities because of a few "Birthers".

Go figure...

I've seen other folks from other stations show up on O'Reilly. (Andrea Mitchell, John Stossel). So I have to think it's CNN that's behind all of this, because it's big ratings for O'Reilly. And Whoever is hosting the 8PM slot at CNN these days can't afford to lose what little viewers show up.

This birther thing? Obama can put a stop to it real fast by showing the real thing. Now is he doing what he is doing because there ain't no real BC? Or is he holding, so he can play these birthers and any other Republicans/ Conservatives for fools?

Now To go really off topic. J$ How about over at OW tonight, you post a poll asking 'Who do you think was the most inept co-host of Countdown the past two weeks'? And leave it up over the weekend. Results Monday.

Thanks, Have A Good Weekend All!

Puck, a capital suggestion. I think I will implement it if I can figure how to do it. Great thanks!

Regarding BOR beating 30 Rock, I was surprised by something else that I saw, from TV Newser. I read the ratings correctly for the Sunday Shows (Meet the Press, Face the Nation, etc), BOR is beating all of them in total viewers and all but one in "the demo".

NBC "Meet the Press" 2.96M / 950K
ABC "This Week" 2.64M / 860K
CBS "Face the Nation" 2.47M / 800K
FOX "Fox News Sunday" 910K / 320K

Way to go Bill!

Just visited OW. It started off as a horrible experience seeing that photo of Mr. Czechoslovakia. Yikes! Who dresses like that? Shorts with a long sleeve shirt, and those shoes with no socks. Now I know what Cankles are, obviously a classic example. But the experience got better after "ceeing" (seeing), Cee's limerick. Brilliant and hysterical. Thanks Cee!

The only way GE and MSNBC bigwigs would give the slightest hoot about its talent dissing FNC is because O'Reilly has mussed them up a bit.

Instead of merely having a pissing contest with Olbermann (as they and Olbermann would have loved...), O'Reilly focused it on the top by informing his large audience about GE's sweet little business with the Iranians and its own dependency on the Obama Administration for bail-outs ala ye olde govt contracts.

How's that for "punching-up", "Keith-O"....Ha!

Thanks Ashley. I have nothing on "Katy Turic" at OW, but I was inspired by Grannie Cankles on the green rocking chair. That picture is now an OW classic!

I voted for Dr. Dean....he put out a couple of "hostage tape" episodes this week and he seems to have a problem with facial tics. One could literally go line by line on the teleprompter when looking at his eyes....weird.

I agree with you puck, the birther stuff has now entered the political manipulation place and polls will now be run that break it down by all sorts of nice demos, like race, religion, etc.

Just like the press was gasping with disdain when a small percentage (insignificant IMHO) of Americans said they thought Obama was a muslim, the reaction here tells the story.

Uninformed people and people who are so partisan they are looking for anything (even irrational things) to comfort themselves is a phenomenon that has been around since sliced bread (and before). I think "controls" should be run and people asked about 9/11, prez election 2000 and 2004, moon landing, JFK, E.T's in pickle jars, etc. theories and see the degree of "kookiness" in poor ol' "fly-over" country (like the elite, I ASSUME that is were all the "idiocy" is....sarcasm).

Again, the fact that this is an issue on the hyperpartisan cable shows (Matthews and Olbermann) being used as a political weapon and with the MSM, couching it in terms of racism, tells me that our nation is more divided than ever before.

The fact that Obama does not simply release the certificate to help try decrease the number of "uninformed" tells me political calculation is involved here and stains his claim to be above the partisan fray.

Republicans should try to turn this into a "nonpartisan," "why are we not unifying as a country" issue. Just like the press blamed 9/11 trutherism on distrust/disgust of government, changing the meme here to "excusing" the theory on distrust of The Obama Administration would help advance this story to where it really belongs.....into the dumpster.
