Shuster's correct! How dare someone get arrested in their own home. Arrests are for the street, the mall, someone else's home, an office building, a toy store, a bodega, a car wash, the McDonalds in Tampa Florida, waiting on a line at a water park, on a park bench, around the corner, near a pizzeria... but in your own home. No way... unacceptable!
Oy vey... how dumb.
There's plenty to be skeptical about in this case, and plenty worth talking about... but angry because he was arrested "in his home," doesn't make the least bit of sense. But that's par for the course, with Shuster.

Wasn't the guy arrested OUTSIDE of his home?
Regardless, no one knows the whole story about this and certainly Obama did not tell the whole story last night. Shuster's comments are just plain stupid. Once again, he plays the role of the fool quite well.

I think it was flat wrong of Pres. Obama to venture into the fracas. He's made the whole matter more incendiary and frankly, I think that was his intent.
I do understand and believe that people of color are likely to be singled out by the police, but it's not unreasonable to be asked for for ID by the cops, after someone calls them because they've seen you forcing open a door. Dr. Gates initially refused to show ID.
Frankly, if I get in the po-po's face (Dr. Gate's description of his own behavior) and follow them out the door berating them, every person witnessing it will be holding their breath knowing it's a matter of seconds before my butt is carted off to jail.
Who's going to feel sorry for me when my dumb self is then arrested?
Nobody. No conservative and no liberal.
David Shuster included.

Once again, Ellen, the Hefty Heinous Hen of News Hounds has shown her ignorance.
She posted this little piece.......
23 Congressional Veterans Demand An Apology From Fox News
Reported by Ellen - July 23, 2009 - comments
Nowhere in here screed did anyone ask for an apology from Fox News.
Similar to her post about the Surgeon General. She confuses the facts. On purpose, I believe.

MSNBC breaking news 8 hours after FNC breaks it???? Seems about right, that is the Olby standard for journalism.

When Democrat Representative John Murtha falsely smeared our troops with claims of rape and murder, did the hounds ever say a peep about that?
Just askin.

Funny how Brodsky 'Missed' this part of the letter and left it completely out of her 'detailed' post.
We recognize and credit anchor Julie Banderdas efforts to make it clear that Mr. Peters positions were not that of Fox News
What a shock eh?

Oh, and where is the outrage from the hounds when Keith Olbermann agreed with Janeane Garafalo that none of the 100,000+ "Tea Party 4/15/09" protestors did not know what the original tea party was. Where was their outrage when MSNBC had Janeane on their channel smearing those same 100,000+ American Citizens claiming that they were all racists.
The Hound Standard -
Not OK to have someone on the air smear one American Citizen.
Is OK to have omeone on the air smear 100,000+ American Citizens.
By the way, I like Cavuto wasn't happy with what that guy said about the Surgeon General. The big difference here is that when the FNC guest said something outrageous, the FNC host complained about it. When the MSNBC guest said something outrageous, the MSNBC host said "yes" in agreement.
The hounds, once again, demonstrate their hypocrisy.

The "master plan" and the goal of FNC has me troubled....Only way to over take the other cable stations is to become tabloid and far more sensational in its reporting....UGH!

Didn't watch last night (Braves/Giants were on) But The Gates Question.
Who asked it and when did it come up?
CNN went into BIA2 right after the presser.
Could Barry have been doing a little Cross-Promotion?
Just Asking, cause there has been talk about these pressers being rigged big time.

Oh yes 'tis the truth, a rather common tactic used by Big Momma and company at the dog pound. The letter sent to Fox does request an apology, but the part giving credit to Julie for her efforts did not make the cut at NH.
The funny part is that Ellen basically lifted the whole post from the liars at Media Matters who (gasp) also left out the sentence giving Julie praise as well.
What's that old line about birds of a feather.....

I thought Charles Krauthammer had the money quote today re Obama's very disturbing and blatant race card last night.
I know my man Mike will correct it if I have it not quite right. He said
"Obama could no more throw Gates under the bus then he could throw his grandmother under it."
Juan Williams made the very same point that you did early today. He ALWAYS shows respect and cooperates with the police whenever he has ever had any dealings. I would think that that policy would be self evident for any honest citizen.
My husband started having conversations on a regular basis from the time they were in the sixth grade that their manners, behavior and attitude should be, or as he put it a few times, should be as if The Holy Father caught you doing something wrong.
For boys who topped out at 6' 5" and above it was good advice even at their age.
He and 4 friends got stopped for curfew violation in my car. One of the kids thought he was tough and mouthed off. Well they all wound up leaning on the hood, thoroughly searched and my car tossed before they were let go with a warning after he and one of the other boys profusely apologized for their friend.
If this man truly believed he was at risk b/c of his race he should have used some good sense and judgment and behaved like what he is, a gentleman.

Newsbusters has a very good writeup about the Gates incident. If factual there is a lot more info available than one can glean just from TV.

I was directing the comment re Juan Williams to you, Cecelia.
I also left something out here:
If this man truly believed he was at risk b/c of his race he should have used some good sense and judgment and behaved like what he CLAIMS HE IS, a gentleman.

Any time I've had to speak with a cop it's "sir" "ma'am" or "miss", as it should be in any citizen interaction with a police officer. Not only does it prevent you from getting arrested, it lowers your speed infraction ticket.
I am of the firm belief that playing the race card is, in and of itself, a racist act.

Is anything wrong with the OW site?
I get the message above the Comment Box that I am logged in but when I try to submit I get the message that I need to log in. However, I never get a login link.
I've closed and oened the site a few times and nothing changes.
