"Fox Fan Email" Barely Mentions Kennedy's death
Reported by Ellen - Wed 8:33 PM
Coverage throughout the day....not good enough for the whiners.
Excellent coverage by Brett Bair and Shep Smith.......not good enough for the whiners.
At least half of O'Reilly's program covered Kennedy....not enough for the whiniers.
I fully expect Ellen, the chief liar, and her crew of poodles to disparage most of the coverage by Fox.
Because that is what they do.
They have nothing else.

I suppose you could really say the same thing about your good self....In regard NH/Keith/NBC/MSNBC
Onto O'reilly. It must be embarrassing for him to have to bring on a investigative journalist (Brian Ross ABC) from another network...for the facts....As a good jurnalist Brian pointed out that this story (rumor that Leon Panetta had a screaming match) was an unconfirmed report, and that he (Brian) can't say for sure it actually happened.
What ever happened to the crack team of investigators at the Factor? I'm sure Jesse Watters could have got that name for o'reilly with a quick ambush. Bill was so desperate for the name....He turned to threats of torture....Waterboarding poor Brian. Brian looked gobsmacked by this threat...and promptly finished the interview.

If all you are going to do is parrot lies from smear sites you aren't going to have a long life here. This was a news report, not a rumor. Ross did not say it was unconfirmed, in fact he had multiple sources. As for not being sure it happened, he was talking about a sequence of events, not his reporting on the flare-up, which he stood by thru the entire interview. And how did Brian Ross "promptly finish the interview"? Did he get up and walk out? Did he say that's it's I'm finished? Or was O'Reilly the one who finished the interview?
I've told you I don't like lies here, and while there is a fine line between opinion and misinformation, I'm beginning to see that line more clearly in your case.
Don't pull this again. I have spoken.

Ashley...how do you explain this from TVNewser....That cable news networks are among those with largest gains this summer: MSNBC is up 16%, HLN is up 18% (that's primetime for summer 09 vs. summer 08).
There was an election just around the corner (08)....So MSNBC have done a good job keeping viewers from 08 and adding to them....The same goes for HLN.

I'm pretty much convinced that Ellen and her poodles would spit on their own grandmothers grave in order to attack Fox.
They really present no factual information about many of their claims. They spend most of their time presuming what Fox people really mean when they speak about an issue.
Their claim about Fox being a propaganda network has yet to be backed up with real facts. Because they say so it not reason enough.
Their writers put out a post and the poodles all get in line to see who can make the most childish remarks or claims.
In their eyes they are somebody when in fact they are merely a bunch of wannabes.

In my humble opinion, anyone who could look at that BOR/Brian Ross segment and truly believe that Bill was "desperate" and that he made a serious threat to Brian Ross and ABC, and that Ross was frightened...completely lacks any any ability to use critical thinking in their analysis. Possible causes for such skewed vision must be an IQ in John T range, or an abnormal upper brain function.
Haggis, isn't it great that BOR wins in that 18-34 demo you were talking up yesterday?
"That cable news networks are among those with largest gains this summer: MSNBC is up 16%, HLN is up 18% (that's primetime for summer 09 vs. summer 0."
Well, 16% of zero is zero. I note you failed to mention what FNC is up.

This is simply a typical Haggis post, omitting key information in order to give a false impression. He omitted key facts from the article he cited in a feeble attempt to imply that MSNBC and HLN are the only cable nets growing. Of course, when all the facts are considered, fair and balanced, we see that Haggis is, once again, errrrr, deceptive.
Now, let's leave the deception of Haggistown and return back to the trugh of Ashleyville.
Haggis intentionally left off the stats about FNC. Here is what TVNewser said, I've bolded the part that Haggis omitted:
In the report, three cable news networks are among those with largest gains this summer: MSNBC is up 16%, HLN is up 18%, and Fox News is up 37% (that's primetime for summer 09 vs. summer 08). On the summer top 10 lists, Fox News ranks #3 in primetime Total Viewers and #6 in total day Total Viewers.
Now, Haggis didn't mention this, but since he claims to be a statistics expert, even he would have to agree that regarding growth rate, comparing 16% for MSNBC's smaller audience vs. 37% of FNC's larger audience is quite easy. Simply stated, for about every one new viewer MSNBC brought in, FNC brought in four.
Therefore, Haggis' declaration of
"So MSNBC have done a good job keeping viewers from 08 and adding to them" clearly indicates that FNC has done a far better job of keeping viewers from '08 and adding to them.
When Haggis omits facts about FNC, it means bad news for MSNBC, HLN, and CNN.
BAck to your original question, "Ashley...how do you explain this from TVNewser...."
It's easy to explain Haggis, FNC is just that good!

Other than free speech....why do you put up with Haggis?
I have never seen a truthful post from him that didnt come from another site. Ive seen you catch him in many lies and
Misinformation about Fox.
It seems clear to me hes just here to cause trouble and bash Fox with lies. If he watches Fox news he must do it with the sound off and then gets his Facts from the hater sites. He rarely IMHO has a post thats his own. In fact yesterday he posted info from TVNewser without telling us that. Thats plagiarism and would get him bounced from most sites right away.
Please know I dont mean to criticize. Its a real question .I assume theres something about Haggis I wasnt here for.

Haggis does not have a great record as far as accuracy, honesty, and fairness go. But we try not to do permanent bans here. There are only two people banned from this site. (Well, maybe one-and-a-half, but I'm not going into that here.) I generally default in favor of more participation not less, and by now most people know what they are getting from Haggis.

The story in the LA Timed about Beck's audience shows that the more the liberals go after Fox the better the ratings.
The people can go there and make their own decisions about watching.
On the other hand you have people attacking Fox when they haven't spent more than 10 minutes watching the various programs.

Re: Target: Fox
We've certainly come a long way from the days when media people viewed boycotts as a method of squelching dissent, to now, where a media related site practically begs an interest group to boycott a news network.
I heartily disapprove of Glenn Beck's statement calling the president racist, but where was the outrage when Pres. Bush was called that? When he was accused of not caring for people of color?
For that matter MSNBC DAILY spends its time accusing Obama policy critics of being racists.
MSNBC daily does a scatter-gun strafing of ALL AND SUNDRY inconvenient dissenters from White House policy, linking them to white supremacists and domestic terrorists.
Glenn Beck's remark hardly touches MSNBC's massive effort to engender racial strife and divisiveness for political expediency.
Would Medialite take the same studiedly nonjudgmental and strictly factual tone (that media outlets are only capable of effecting when covering controversial steps or lapses taken or made by liberals) if a conservative group went after David Shuster and Contessa Brewer for their constant efforts at smearing Obama critics?

OMG! 3 mil. for Beck? How will MSNBC and the rest of the media stop him & the FNC Juggernaut?
I can't see how making this boycott FNC (whole network) will work. The backlash this will have on the rest cable/broadcast news will be something we have never seen before.
This is also an old trick that use to work for the MSM in the old days. Anybody remember when they went after Laura Schlessinger? In music, it was Seals & Crofts (anybody remember that?) C&C Cola? I use three off the board examples to show just how really powerful the MSM once was.
As FNC becomes more and more the go to channel, MSNBC will become more and more unhinged, even dangerous in their speak.
We might be looking at Cable ratings next year for FNC that none of us ever thought possible for any cable news network.
Yeah! The MSN is in extreme danger here when the number one cable show not on FNC, is reduced to calling Americans names, debating no one and hiding in a bathtub.

With Bush the proof was there for the World to see, if not Bush himself then, his incompetent administration. What is Beck's proof? The World is still watching.
As to Beck's popularity, have you considered that many may be tuning in just to see the side show. The clown of Fox News, how hilarious.

I caught Beck's show Weds...Limbaugh was interviewed on the phone and Rove was on also. It was a good show.
Beck, love him or hate him, is appealling to a large portion of the population. Limbaugh has withstood many calls for boycotts but once a personality hits a certain total audience and is honest and loyal to them, it is heard to silence them.
FNC may have some tough decisions ahead if the left decides to go for broke. It could get ugly.
Funny.....I think MSNBC would be much more vulnerable to a boycott of their advertisers. That tactic should be considered if the FNC boycott gets much bigger.

At the time of Katrina New Orleans was about 60% black. The most deaths numerically ocurred inLLakeview and on the Lakefront which is virtually all white. The lower Ninth Ward flooding was slower than the torrents that rushed thru Lakeview.
That was why all the rooftop rescues we saw were in the Ninth Ward. The people in Lakeview didn't have enough time to save themselves.
Although there was significant loss of life in 95% white St Bernard, which is outside the levee system, their evacuation rate was much higher. An astounding statistic for St Bernard is that about half of all the building were destroyed and 98% of every structure in the Parish was damaged, with the majority significantly damaged.
And that' not even talking about the gulf coast and areas inland. My brother-in-law was in an area by the Wolf River where helicopters had to drop supplies originally b/c of the totally impassable roads.
There was so much more to Katrina and much of the blame heaped on GWB belonged to Ray Nagin, Kathleen Blanco and Mary Landrieu and the unbelievable scope of the disaster. 90,000 - NINETY THOUSAND SQUARE MILES were seriously affected.
I have family in Jackson. They lost power city wide, that far inland, and it was close to two weeks before it was all restored.
My Mama died at my home a month after Katrina in Tampa, we left New Orleans after my husband died a year or so before Katrina, at age 100.
We were able to bring her home and managed a Mass but no service at the crypt. We were happy to have that. When we first made the arrangements it was going to be she would be interred on the North Shore and then moved by my Dad later.
I can not begin to convey what the ride home along I-10 was like. We started seeing damage from Katrina before Pensacola. By Mobile it was serious widespread damage (the USS Alabama was knocked out of its concrete foundation and was listing.
The further down the coast we went the worse it got. It made the Camille disaster look puny b/c Camille was such a violent but compact storm. Through Ocean Springs, Biloxi, Gulfport, Pass Christian, Bay St Louis and on to Slidell it was total destruction even though I-10 is a few miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico.
And that was just the beginning for my poor beloved New Orleans. It literally looked, smelled and felt like we were trapped in black and white footage of Europe in WWII.
I usually stay away from this subject b/c it is so painful but sometimes I can't restrain myself.
Johnny, if you want to spike this I'll understand. At least I got it off my chest to myself.

Once I learned the meaning naturally I had to go find the Post and peruse the comments which is when I came across this little gem.
""How the FOX plans to muzzle any mention of Sen.Kennedy" that should have been the title or this article.
Keep a close lookout on Oreilly, his wife use to date Sen.Kennedy.She also dated and went to school with William Drayton(Flavor Flav). No wonder he hates the Kennedy's and black people so much.

It made no sense for her to suggest that she is and then end by essentially saying that she and her country are a closed market to American conservatism.

In the context of 14tr's ideological playmates organizing a boycott (which was the context of my post), that is only for the purpose of stopping Mr. Beck from expressing his, "observations," this quote seems rather hypocritical....
"I still see no lie. Just personal observations and I would assume, I am free to express those freely. You may disagree, but I see no lie."
Oh, so was Beck's "observation" about Obama being a racist a lie or an opinion simply open to disagreement? According to some in our fair land, such speech is one step away from similar theories like Beck's....the hateful pitchfork crowd outside The White House with hangman's noose and torches in hand!
You see, both right and left have their conspiracy theorists, and both have had megaphones in the media.....It seems that when the megaphone gets bigger for the right, the left begins to scream, stomp their feet and contemplate pretty draconian steps to stop the speech.
Also, unsupported theories about "trainwreck," audiences similar to the phenomenon of Jerry Springer seems counter to the usual cry for rational and analytical debate the left says they are proud of....Saying millions of people do not have sincere ideological agreement with Beck, Limbaugh and Hannity is not a smart assumption....We see such results at townhall meetings here daily.
Elitists, whether intellectual, ideological or class based, have made such mistakes through the millenia...Their primative, defensive and unrecognized intolerance, and resultant prejudices, of the "dirty masses," have lead to more problems than most are ready to admit.
Drop the arrogance and self-rightousness and perhaps things will improve.

All Hannity, Beck and Limbaugh are doing is spinning, spinning any little soundbite to push the agenda.
They are the reason that people come to these town hall meetings with half truths and distortions led by Fox News and the Conservative media, even John McCain had problems with COnservatives at his recent town hall meetings. Ah yes, political tactics that are ok when used by leftist advocates are "fear mongering," and "lies," when the right uses them.
I have just sat through 8 years of the exact same rhetoric used for political gain....Saw protestors spray blood onto public officials in the halls of congress.....heard cable talking heads call President Bush and Vice President Cheney fascists, terrorists, shreaders of the Constitution and war mongers.....all "opinion" acceptable for discussion but now, when the other party is in total power....opinion on the impact policy may have in the future, (including panels of government appointees authorized to ration medical care) is "lies."
Sorry Al....rational examination of even the recent past shows that the cliche of "Good for goose, is good for gander" still applies....What a leftist calls "cost savings in Medicare" a right-winger can call a "death panel." What a right-winger called reforming Social Security a leftist called "destroying Social Security."
BTW, when ANY elitist, right-wing or left-wing, dismisses a point of view only based on a demogogic argument like "IT'S A LIE!" instead of addressing the actual topic, that is a dangerous thing. It is also irrational and immoral.

This sort of belies the tract Al has taken up until till now, does it not?...
Let me ask you something, Al. If Pres. Bush had brought a policy for a govt subsidized school voucher program that would function along side the current public school system, would you term it "lies" and fear mongering when critics suggested that this program was designed to ultimately do away the traditional public school system?
Would you term that stance as spreading fear, even though the legislation expressly stated that this voucher program would not in any way threaten or hinder the existing system?
Would conjectures about policy changes that the existing school structure might be forced to make in order to compete with the new voucher program be "lies"?
Would prognostications and conjectures about about the allocation of limited funds for both programs be fear mongering?
And IN PARTICULAR would questions about the motivations and ultimate goals of a political party with a history of antipathy against the traditional structure, merely be the spreading of misinformation, in this hypothetical scenario of a school voucher program?
Would all these things be ghastly lies, fear mongering, misinformation, ignorance merely because the CURRENT legislation for school vouchers EXPRESSLY stated an intent to do no harm to and to operate side by side with, the current system?
You think about that, Al. You think about all that would be said by your side in such a scenario of a public alternative to the current system, and then tell us that the current concerns are all just political baloney and falsehoods.

I am not sure how you can do that.
Fox is political, there is no getting around that. How do you divide the two? Discuss their programming without reference to it's content?
The moment you add dissenting voices, ie Olbermann, doesn't it become political? You vs them?
I have never understood how you can talk about one without the other. Or how foreign news sources are off limits. It seems to narrow your focus, but perhaps as a Canadian I am missing something.

1, I'll tell you how you do it. You discuss programming, content, people, ratings, criticisms, controversies, etc, about cable news. You don't debate politics, left vs right, Dem vs GOP, Bush vs Obama, or political stuff. We've been doing it here for coming up on five years now, so I'm kind of surprised that the notion comes up that it can't be done.
As for foreign news sources, this is a US site about cable news. Foreign news sources are no more relevant than, say, projected hoe-handle distribution for fiscal year '09-'10.
Now that everyone has had their say, the discussion will refocus on cable news. Right?

As such Canadian dissent is not or should not be off limits. The world does not revolve around the USA and I thought the internet was meant to widen everyone's horizons, not limit them.

But of course idiots like Beck, Hannity and Limbaugh have made up their own ideas about it and cry daily socialism, socialism, socialism.

I suppose if you come at this discussion with the belief that the media, in general, does not have a bias towards "progressive" ideology then my take on it all will be nothing but a humming sound.
Political gamesmanship is a REALITY and the media has always been a conduit for it. Finally, after a progressive strangle-hold for decades on the nets and papers, there are alternatives that allow a conservative POV fair access. I say hurrah for free speech!
I have NO problem with KEITH OLBERMANN calling me a terrorist racist tin-foil hat wearing loon. He has the right and I would not ask my neighbor to boycott any product advertising on his show.....yet (we'll see what happens with the FNC boycott, I may be persuaded to change my stand against such tactics).
I will point out, however, the hypocrisy of people like Olbermann crying foul over such dramatic rhetoric when a right-winger does the same exact thing....and the ill advised idea of calling for a boycott based on a difference in ideological opinion.
Like I said originally, things are getting ugly.
Lastly, Olbermann still claims to be a reporter....he isn't....he's a hyperpartisan leftist shill. Glenn Beck, Limbaugh and Hannity (as well as the companies that broadcast their shows) are honest about their role as COMMENTATORS. That is a very important distinction between the degree of professionalism between FNC and NBC NEWS.

Death panels for one, cherry picking individuals from Canada and elsewhere who are against government ran healthcare.
Also why did CNN talk to many people who were on government ran healthcare and they said that they have no problem with it, why does Fox news not do that, because it is not something they want to hear, anything to smear the great Obama, Fox News is clearly in the pocket of the RNC.
Especially Doocy, Carlson, Cavuto, Beck (but he is just a moron) Hannity, O'Reilly (Yes Chimeri O'Reilly is a Conservative and If you cannot see that I feel for you)

Mr. F claims that FNC lied about "Death panels for one, cherry picking individuals from Canada and elsewhere who are against government ran healthcare."
Al, is that the best you to illustrate lies? Regarding "Death Panels", who said it, what exactly was said, how is it a lie? Second, what is the lie in "cherry picking"? How did you determine they cherry picked, what was the occasion, and the only way it could be a lie is if they claimed they did not cherry pick but you can prove that they did.
"Also why did CNN talk to many people who were on government ran healthcare and they said that they have no problem with it, why does Fox news not do that"?
How do you know FNC did not do that. Can you prove that? You're making a very broad statement for someone who says they don't watch FNC.

I'm just now seeing this response from Lil'fellerstein.
Al, it is ENTIRELY correct of FNC to air a discussion of end of live matters as regards a public health care option.
As a consumer YOU should want that.
Evidently you missed the link I gave of a New York Times interview with the president, where Pres. Obama, himself, mentioned a "voluntary" panel that would assist families in deciding the efficacy of continued medical treatment for their chronically ill or terminally loved one.
In the course of talking about that panel, the president mentioned that this issue would HAVE to addressed because such care was roughly 80% of the total cost of heath care in this country.
Don't believe me-- here's the link.
http://tinyurl.com/dy5oxg
You tell me if Sara Palin dreamed up death panels... and if it's not logical to extrapolate that in a matter of 80% of the expense in a public system, that there will be the need for such panels to keep costs down because politicians must face the electorate with every tax increase.
And in a system using public money, how quickly will be impetus go from "this is the money it's costing tax payers to keep you alive" to "why are you using so much of the tax payer's money to stay alive?"
Here's the quote:
"I mean, the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care bill out here.
So how do you how do we deal with it?
THE PRESIDENT: Well, I think that there is going to have to be a conversation that is guided by doctors, scientists, ethicists. And then there is going to have to be a very difficult democratic conversation that takes place. It is very difficult to imagine the country making those decisions just through the normal political channels. And thats part of why you have to have some independent group that can give you guidance. Its not determinative, but I think has to be able to give you some guidance. And thats part of what I suspect youll see emerging out of the various health care conversations that are taking place on the Hill right now."
