Eric Alter never fails to stupidly shoot his mouth off.
For the NBC store to sell pro-Obama merchandise can be BOTH a business decision AND a reflection of institutional bias towards the president and liberal sensibilities.
Sarah Palin draws huge crowds. Her stuff flies off the shelves. NBC News has even reported that "cashing in" on her big popularity may be why she resigned as gov of Alaska.
Anyone think we're going to see Sarah Palin t-shirts at the NBC store?
Bernie Goldberg's best selling book?
No, I'm sure that when it comes to Republicans or wildly popular authors who take liberals to task, the buyers for the NBC store will somehow...just somehow...manage to put aside their yen for a profit and tell themselves that stocking such merchandise could signal a tacit endorsement of the people behind these products.
Alter not only knows that, if the store were selling conservative fare, he'd be arguing it.

I would love to know what happened to the liberal utopia standard of a "marketplace of ideas?"
Beck may not express ideas, opinions or impressions appreciated by some, but the audience he pulls, as well as the success of his books and tours seems to suggest he is representative of a pretty sizeable group.
He is a commentator....a partisan.....and he is accurately advertised as such on FNC. It seems some on the left are willing to try to intimidate their fellow Americans in not expressing their OPINION. Not a very "american" way of thinking.

Re: Beck advertisers.
I recall when O'Reilly would even mention the word boycot, the News Poodles would wet their panties.
Now, they are all for boycots.
This crowd of loons is so galactically ignorant.

I just heard on the radio that Robert Novack passed away.
He was usually out front on some important political trends and was also a good source for a chuckle....especially on the once good CAPITAL GANG on CNN.
He will be missed.....A good journalist and pundit.

Shame on David Zurawik. He sank to the far-left blogs' level by denigrating a conservative right after they've died.

"But the Beck fans dont have to worry. If the advertisers really want to make an impact, theyd remove their advertising from Fox News in general. Of course, that wont happen the audience is too big. Instead, the pseudo-boycott by these companies will continue, and Fox will let Beck talk about whatever he wants all the way to the bank."
Ah yes, Let's not forget how well the 'Fox News Quarantine' worked.

Robert Novak was no more sneering on Crossfire than was Al Hunt.

I think Beck has been acting like a total jackass in his remarks about the president, but he hasn't come close to being as insulting towards Obama as Keith Olbermann was and still is towards Pres. Bush.
Beck hasn't accused Pres. Obama of throwing away the lives of American soldiers in order to enrich his friends.
Beck hasn't accused the president of treason to his country, as Olbermann has Pres. Bush.
Beck hasn't made Obama proxy to domestic terrorism as Olbermann did with linking the Pres. Bush to the anthrax letters.

Putting aside Al Hunt who was more caustically sneeringly arrogant than Mark Shields and the ever lovely and gracious Eleanor Cliff, Cecelia?

I noticed that Greta and the WSJ Editor touched lightly on something that has had me screaming at my TV and radio for weeks: How many reams of Federal Regulations and mandatory reports will be foisted on the hapless public if THE BILL is 1,000+ pages?
Ask anyone who has a small business or works in the accounting dept of a large businesses just how onerous and time consuming OSHA regulations and required reports are.
Even though I am retired and won't have to deal with any of it thinking about it makes me queasy. On top of the nonstimulating stimulus, TARP and the bloated Obama budget that aspect alone could, to say nothing of incresed taxes, send our economy from serious to well nigh critical.
Has anyone heard anyone else on the other cable channels even mention it in between hurling insults and accusations of terrorism against those speaking out against Obamacare?

Grammie,
Since I adore caustic sneering arrogance in a person, I'd have to say Charles Krauthammer.
He wasn't on Crossfire, but I'd still have to say Charles Krauthammer.
Let's hope Krauthammer has as many years of being caustically sneeringly arrogant towards hypocrisy, insincerity, shiftiness, and irrationality, as Bob Novak had.

Cecelia, is it your intention to say that one's opinion depends upons whether one's ox is the Gorer or the Goree?
Surely not! My man CK is so lighthearted, open and congenial that I often wish he would get down and dirty sometimes rather than always letting those mean nasty Libs have it their way.
