Maybe there's something I don't know at this point.
Why is Media Matters going this extra step? Like I said at this point I'm watching from the sidelines, but this is getting interesting.
I even found this on Huff-Po.

firing & boycott demands against Dobbs & Beck being carried out by the usual suspects. Free speech is ok if you are a liberal on msnbc, or Air America but not tolerated if you don't have the same world view on other networks or radio broadcasts.

An Article About Earnings?
Reported by Ellen - August 1, 2009 - comments
Guest blogged by Dan
Another one of the Idiot Ellen's poodles, Dan, appears to have comprehension problems.
Danny Boy says the word "earnings", which appears in Willard's headline, doesn't appear appear in the story.
Of course anyone with 2 ounces of common sense or knows anything about business, can read the article and put 2 and 2 together.
But, as usual, the Horrible Henious Hens need something to attack Fox. So they let little Danny Boy write another one of their ignorant pieces.
The stupidity continues.

Liberals love to fire people who they believe are guilty of some devious act. How about we fire Barney Frank for his part in the banking crisis?
Not gonna happen. Don't forget it's all Bush's fault.

Re: MSNBC corpaganda
Well, the Salon writer managed to make the leap that it's not in GE's interests to have its corporate doings made public to O'Reiily large audience (let alone how Olbermann and Janeane Garofalo's act effected GE shareholders...).
Now, why can't the writer go a little further in this mental exercise by understanding that if poor ole now-muzzled Olbermann existed to expose FNC "lies" on behalf of the Bush Administration, GE's dealings could also be preventing him from "speaking truth to power" when the "power" in that hackneyed phrase, represents the Obama Administration.
But, hey, it wasn't like Olbermann was doing you proud in THAT regard anyway, now was he, Oh "power to the people" Salon. Olby wasn't exactly storming the West Wing of Influence and Media Govt collusion now that the other party is in power.
But then, that's the point. Salon doesn't want Olbermann around to give 20 minute demagogic screeds on WH malefeasance NOOOWWW.... Salon needs Olbermann around to continue to hammer one side of the political equation.
Why Salon wouldn't give half a fig about cozy corporate relations-contracts between GE/MSNBC and the Obama Administration if O'Reilly hadn't used that info to launch a knock-out punch to what Salon figures is Olbermann's "real" job.
Now Salon waxes woeful that ole "News Corpse" is free to spread it's "lies" about....who?....about what?....
I'll tell you what-- about the government pols that GE/MSNBC has been stumping for, spinning for, making talking points for....and all in order to help its own bottom line.
THAT is who Salon is concerned about. THAT is who they are mourning over. A bunch Democratic politician.
Oh, yes.
That Salon has to pretend that FNC has any stake in this other than just a profound irritation and weariness over MSM games and condescension, is just one part of the lovely schadenfreude I feel over this 'development' (as well as a new-found respect for Bill O'Reilly's brilliant and risky checkmate move).
FNC goes up and up in the ratings and Rupert Murdoch pretends that he cares what Olbermann and David Shuster say in order to "broaden" relations with Immelt and company. Can't you just see them feigning detached patriarchal disapproval of the "sad" contentiousness between the two networks as they scurry around an expansive Lord Murdoch...
And Keith Olbermann marches in tune to his overlords, while telling the Kos Kids that he's "quarantining" Fox.
My grandmother would have told me that glee was not a worthwhile or attractive emotion for young ladies direly in need of focusing on more important things.
I'm sorry, Grandmother. It's too delicious to deny....

Re: "Will Olby walk?": I could only read up to the middle of Hal Boedeker's column. There is no personal feud on O'Reilly's side. Bill never went after Keith's family or insinuated anything about Merlot or otherwise. He has never mocked anyone's voice, unless he's in the middle of asking a question to a friendly (agreeing or disagreeing) Fox News Contributor. And if he does mock, it's for a few scant seconds and occasional.
See the difference? As Bill would say, do the math.

Whoa! Johnny...Johnny....Johnnny...how CAN you ask this?!
OF COURSE Olbermann will resign!
He's spent the last seven or eight years FIGHTING corporate media/government collusion ala FNC and the Bush Administration!
Even if Olbermann is not a part of the "deal" (as though he wasn't the impetus...) do you think this moral colossus could lower himself to be a part of a news organization that muscled its journalist truth-seekers into pulling punches towards what is, after all, a bigger threat to the U.S.A. than Al Qaeda!
NEVER!
That boy has GOT to go....
(Hooooo....I'm getting a Chris Matthews thrill up my leg!)

If Keith can't talk about FNC, he might as well go.
His whole show would be nothing but Limbaugh bashing, even his kool-aid guzzlers would get tired of that one trick pony.
And since 'The Factor' beats 'Countdown' by a 3-1 margin most nights, FNC is playing this hand from a power position.
If I'm Murdoch, why would I want to fold on this? If anything, MSNBC can't touch FNC in the ratings, so I am thinking this is just a stunt by MSNBC (with the help of 'The Times') or! They have finally got sick of Olbermann.
Must See TV? Yeah! But it's only going to be good for one night, and who is going to take over if Olbermann bolts? All the fill-in hosts Bombed these past two weeks.
If Obama & the Dems start to really tank, look for Olby to pull what he did back in the 90's when Clinton got caught with Lewinsky.
It saves Imelt a few million.
But really, if MSNBC can't bash FNC, they might as well run a test pattern or more of those doc-blocks.

Another thought.
Say this did/does happen, It doesn't matter what FNC wins in this. It will be looked at as a sign of weakness.
Of caving in.
CNN who is not part of this, could have a field day with it.
And how is it that this story is almost two months old and of all people, Stelter is the one breaking it, NOW.
Olbermann
Stelter
Imelt
NY Times
As we say out here in the sticks.

Oh, bull, no one won, Mediaite!
By conforming to Keith's own standards via his "punching up", O'Reilly maneuvered GE/MSNBC bigwigs into revealing that they are more representative of Olbermann's narrative of FNC, than is FNC!
NOW let Keith Olbermann explain how he can morally continue to work there!

vermontdave,
As critical of Blackflon has been about News Hounds and it's bloggers, he doesn't accuse Ellen of hating people of color, or of hating all men in general, or of being a child molester.
Perhaps, you should examine THAT sort of rhetoric that passes for argument at NH.
THEN you might understand some of the bitterness some people feel towards that site.

Good points. But there is no bitterness from my side. I post my opinions on many blogs. Some people like them and some people don't. But I am not bannned at any other site.
The problem with the News Poodles is that they are sensitive to any criticism and waste no time in attacking people who disagree with them.
They also use race and mysoginistic comments to attack people they don't like.
They have also made stuff up about myself and others.
Sure, I have thrown the "F" bomb over there but it was used no different than some of their own posters.
They are a simply a bunch of cry babies.

One assumes that Stephen Colbert's writers, like News Hounds, monitor Fox News programs as the pieces of populist pablum on the "F word network" provide an abundance of riches for the stunning satire that is featured on "The Colbert Report." Or perhaps the writers are familiar with News Hounds and check us out for what's hot and what's not on that paragon of "fair and balanced" journalism (?) Fox News.

I wrote Mr. Greenwald, from Salon, a letter chiding him about not addressing more directly G.E.'s financial stake in toadying to , in his Salon piece (which Johnny linked here.)
Mr. Greenwald's response to my post (which I forwarded to Johnny and Grammie) was to merely focus on the part of it where I characterized MSNBC content as being toward the left (Even Howard Kurtz says that.)
Greenwald somewhat testily reminded me of Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan.
I replied to him yesterday, and I'm cut-n-pasting that, because Johnny asked me to since it relates to content here:
Who were your MSNBC go-to conservatives when Pat and Joe were bashing the Bush Administration daily?
That's a straw man, Mr. Greenwald.
I am part of the MSNBC audience, and Rachel and the lineup may occasionally criticize the Obama Administration, but it's from the stand point of pushing them further to the left.
The essential point here is that as imminently important as it is to you that Keith Olbermann has the independence to expose O'Reilly and FNC "lies" via Puppet Theater, Worst Person in the World Awards, and pictures of Roger Ailes in clown makeup... perhaps....just perhaps....it SHOULD concern you too that if G.E. is willing to muzzle Olbermann snark at "Fixed Noise", they are likely capable of doing it over something where the stakes involve a hell of a lot of money, in a time when companies are in need of a hell of a lot of money... It SHOULD concern you that perhaps, this is already the case.
Now, I'm entirely aware that "speaking truth to power" ain't what it used to be, but the above potentiality ought to have been more than obliquely referenced in your piece.
It ought to have AT LEAST ranked right up there with your alarm about Richard Wolfe and his corporate interests, don't you think?
Now I'll readily admit that I wouldn't know journalism from transmission repair, but Mr. Greenwald, even I, do know THAT.Who were your MSNBC go-to conservatives when Pat and Joe were bashing the Bush Administration daily?

I have to disagree with you on this, Dave,
Based on both Ellen's personal treatment of me and the tolerance and yes encouragement she showed to many Hounds whose behavior to me and others here were pathologically disturbing she just doesn't make the grade.
Surely you are, or should be, aware of that. If not perhaps you should restrain yourself until you remedy the deficit.
