Two theories on that MSNBC fact error:

1. It was an honest error (the reasonable and likely explaination).

2. It was an attempt to limit the political damage of the jobs report. The Obama administration would be the greatest beneficiary of such activity (the conspiracy theorist explaination).

I will say it was an error and convey no outrage toward MSNBC. Their error is consistant with their recent run of poor journalistic standards, so it does not surprise me.

The self-proclaimed "fact-checkers" like THINK PROGRESS, NEWSHOUNDS and MEDIA MATTERS should be taking MSNBC to task for such an error if they are truly intellectuall honest.....I doubt that will happen.

Original message
I contacted the FBI regarding Glen Beck and Michael Scheuer, suggest everyone do the same.
My email to the FBI Portland Office:

SUBJECT: The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States

Michael Scheuer appeared on the Glenn Beck show on FOX News Channel and made the following statement:

"The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States....only Osama can execute an attack which will force Americans to demand that their government protect them."

This is not protected speech. This is sedition. Mr. Beck agreed with him. How is it possible that a major news organization is allowed to promote this kind violence? Why is Mr. Scheuer not being held for questioning? Why is Fox News not being investigated?

Do I need to file a formal complaint in order for the FBI to investigate this? If so, I will be happy to.

How can News Corp, a company owned by a foreign national, be allowed to promote an attack against the United States of America?

I also sent a copy of my complaint to Wyden and Merkley. This cannot be allowed to stand. We have to do something or it will only get worse. They're no longer only attacking our president, they are now encouraging an attack on the citizens of the United States to promote their own political ideology.

I guarantee you that this moron's note to the FBI gets tossed into the trash bin.

What is the writer talking about?

What was truly said on Glenn Beck's show and what was the context?

Re: CNN whores MJ?

The huge surprise in this piece is that there is none of the de rigeur backward slap at FNC, made so the writer can establish that his criticism is illegitimate because he's not a rightwing crazy, etc.

That IS a first...

Otherwise, the piece is absolutely on the money! I understand that all things MJ has been ratings bonanza for CNN and that they need a ratings boost, but they have flogged this story beyond comprehension!

I saw it yesterday but can't find it now.

To the best of my memory it was said along the lines of God forbid there be another attack but that might be the only thing to remotivate the public.

I certainly didn't take it as a wish or an incitement to anyone to attack us. As if Al Qaeda is just waiting for Glen Beck and guest to get them fired up and do the inthinkable, attaCK THE GREAT SATAN aMERICA.

Basically Scheuer said he thinks that Americans are so complacent and politicians so concerned with their own advancement that it would take an event of that sort to create a grass roots uprising for real action to protect America. The notion that he 'wished' for such an event is just another FHL (Fox Hater Lie).

Thanks, Grammie and Johnnie.

When you hear that someone has gone to the point of alerting the FBI over a statement made on the Glenn Beck show, you can't help but be curious as to what they've so outraged over.

If only to laugh at them.

Exactly, Johnny. DU, Media Matters and News Hounds all presented the same argument that Scheuer "wanted" an attack.

It'a all about hating Fox. They have no real evidence of ANY of their charges so they simply lie a lot.

Is Fox Nation In Bed With Newsbusters?
Reported by Priscilla - Fri 3:02 PM

Could this also read....

"Is Mews Hounds in bed with Media matters"..........or

"Is News Hounds in bed with daily Kos"

I guess we won't be seeing any more cross polination of liberal propaganda from the Hen House.

In Priscilla's post today regarding Fox Nation and Newsbusters being in bed together, she whines about some of the comments made from both groups.

At the same time she allows the following kind of idiocy in her comment section.

Bozo the Hothead probably helped create that idiotic website.

That vicious, nonsense-spewing moron Sarah Palin.........

"I truly LOATHE this man......he is a disgusting, vile human being, coke head, drug abuser......I guess he ranks right up there with Zero in qualifications."

I think this one must be a reference to Bush rather than Franken.

I mean, really, she's so incredibly clueless as to foster nagging doubts in all but the most armour-plated fox faithful.
Bemused | 07.03.09 - 4:40 pm | #

She can't make even the most modest amount of sense -- even SEEMING sense, like that vicious moron Beck. Sarah Palin's remarks all sound like a book report written by a fifth grader who hasn't read the book.

So Liz Trotta thinks Sarah Palin is inarticlate and undereducated. Classic elite inside the beltwway speak. Tranlation: She is not one of us so has no right to a leadership position. Elites on the right & left sound very much alike when attacking. I don't know about you guys & gals, but I have no problem understanding when sarah articulates.

As for what William F. Buckley would say? Well, one of his most favorite conservative voices was Rush Limbaugh, had him as a house guest on a couple of occasions. Buckley didn't give a damn that Rush only had a high school education. Just liked what he had to say & how he said it.

Wasn't it Buckley that said he would rather have the first 500 people in the phone book make critical decisions regarding the country's future over the same # of Ivy League elites?

Liz, get over the Palin derangement syndrome, she is not going away because you & your crowd don't aoorove.

I don't get why the conservatives aren't calling Palin on her crap. I mean, she leaves in the middle of her term to pursue the presidency. This is something that you do *after* you win, so she's about 40 months late there.

Also, why is it that to the conservatives, Palin can do no wrong and the media has a negative perception of her? Well, of course they do, she's an idiot! Sorry for being blunt, but for Pete's sake, she's a creationist!

And what tone does the resignation set for her campaign? If she gets elected and North Korea won't stand down, she'll quit!

I'm not quite sure why you're an "idiot" for believing in the Biblical version of the origins of life, but you're not an idiot for believing in other tenets of Christianity.

Are you sure that Pres. Obama, VP Biden, and a plethora of other Dem pols don't ardently believe in the virgin birth of Christ, Christ's miracles and resurrection, the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception, the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, etc?

If they do, aren't you going to have to re-evaluate your estimations of their IQ levels, pirikapirilala?...

You sure haven't been paying attention if you think conservatives believe that Palin can do no wrong. You need to re-evaluate your ignorant remarks and gather some facts before you spout off again.

She's a creationist?? So what?

@ Blackflon: Where's the criticism been? I haven't seen one negative comment for her on Fox News.

Also, I don't want fake science in my science classroom. And besides, creationists still believe their views after being debunked.

Not one, huh?

So Liz Trotta (you know...the subject matter of the people you were commenting to above...) didn't count?

"Also, I don't want fake science in my science classroom. And besides, creationists still believe their views after being debunked."

Forgive me, but I'd venture that that ...eh.... science....long ago "debunked" the theory of a virgin birth and physical resurrection past being dead for three days, as well.

Lame try with the strawman of "fake science in the classroom", now do you want to tell me if you hold Pres. Obama and others to your standard of faith based beliefs being indicative of a low IQ?

The president believes a man walked on water, turned water into wine, and raised the dead, "for pete's sake"!....
